Hi! 997.2tt 6MT - New to Forum
Greetings everyone!
I picked up my first p-car in Dec of 2012, a new 997.2tt 6MT with centre lock wheels. I was on the fence weather I should buy the last of the 997s or wait and be one of the first 991 turbo guys. I was back and forth on this until I heard a reliable rumour that the 991tt was NOT going to come in a manual transmission. At that point I frantically searched across Canada and picked up one of the last ones in a manual transmission as I had driven a 991 carrera with PDK and just could not get into it. A decision I am thankful for every single time I drive (including morning rush hour!).
I drive my car almost every day and spent last summer at DE events with the Upper Canada Porsche Club and became absolutely addicted! Also I must say with living in Canada and suffering through an insanely long winter (it actually is still forecasting flurries tonight!!!!) if you haven't driven your turbo in the snow you are missing out! The AWD system is brilliant and the stability and control you feel in the 911 on snow covered streets rivals any suv I've driven. It's a total blast. I would often find myself in the empty parking lot at my golf course after a snowfall practicing the techniques I had learned at Camp4 in Quebec
. That being said I think I will be picking up a second commuter car next winter as it just made me too sad to see that work of art constantly covered in salt and mud.
After a year and 4 months of driving (and 18k miles!) I must say I am still totally infatuated with my car, it is truly the perfect blend of daily usability and insane fun. I've made no mods to my car outside of winter tires and ordering a set of Forgeline GT1s to mount some pilot sport cups on for this years track season.
My ONLY complaints thus far are auditory, and it is because of these complaints that I started lurking around the forums. I'm very unimpressed with the Bose stereo system, the highs just fall apart at any volume. The second underwhelming sound is that of the exhaust. For a 500hp monster is just seems WAAAAAAAY too quiet, and I find myself aching for more of a connection between my right foot and my ears.
That being said, I couldn't be happier with my purchase and look forward to hanging out with you guys.
Cheers!

Previously driving an M3?
I bought my turbo a few years ago but haven't been able to convince myself to drive it in the winter other than once or twice on the nicest day. It's not the snow, it's the salt and maybe the sand.
The audio definitely sucks and you'll have to get creative because there are limited examples of upgraded systems. I planned to change but barely ever turn the radio on in this car. Between the exhaust and the clutching I have I need to hear what's going on.
I would love to find out more about the local driving events and will check out UCR

Welcome and great looking car, as mentioned, the red accents look great. Re: exhausts, are there members of your Upper Canada Porsche Club with aftermarket exhaust that you could listen to in person? There are numerous exhaust threads on 6Speed, it is quite a subjective topic. I went with Europipe.
Re: Bose, the only aural sensation I focus on is the melody from my aftermarket exhaust (I don't turn up the PCM audio too high in my car and the iPod sounds decent enough with a few tweaks to the EQ settings on both the PCM and the iPod).

Welcome to the forum, but you're making me feel bad. I don't even drive my TT in the rain, of course in So Cal thats mostly because it's stopped raining this winter. Great looking TT with the red/black combination.....

Congrats on the car! Maybe I'll see you cruising on the 400series highways. If you want to hear what an aftermarket exhaust sounds like I've got an AWE on mine, but it's a .1tt not a .2
