OEM 2007 GT2 front bumper to 2008 997.1 tt

Hi all,

Basically new to the forum and Porsches in general and been lurking around.

Could not resist the lure of the Porsche turbo and bought my 2008 997.1 a week ago. I now want to replace the front bumper with an OEM '07 GT2 bumper.

Did a lot of search but could not find the definitive answer. I think the OEM GT2 bumper will fit, but I would like to know what modifications, if any, need to be done i.e rerouting radiator connection, lighting wiring, ect... to accomplish this?

Or is it as simple as removing the original bumper and bolt in the new one? I will have a body shop do this, but would like to know in advance to plan.

Thanks in advance for all your help. The forum has been an invaluable source for information and guidance.

Hello,

Congratulations on your purchase, enjoy it in good health...

GT2 bumper can be fit on your car, there 2 options;

1- Retain 997tt radiator and hose system and modify the bumper accordingly (cutting and trimming involved)

2- Buy GT2 center radiator along with necessary hoses and frames.

I would suggest the 2nd option to have GT2 style airflow through the radiator and bumper.

Cheers,
Emre

I was thinking the GT2 bumper would look nice.

Thanks, MrMiggy.

I'm still learning how to drive this thing.

This is my first Porsche and first high performance car. My DD is a 4 cylinder Venza, lol.

I'm with you. My last car was a Cayman S. I have about two weeks in my Turbo. It's a radical diference.

Looks great just the way it is, IMO. I would just install a GT2/aero lip for a somewhat more aggressive look. Watch out for that curb!!

Where were all of these white turbos when I was trying to buy one? I think white is the most attractive color on the 997.

Thanks for the kind words.

Almost bought one in cobalt blue, but white is my first choice.

Going pass on the GT2 bumper- too much money and hassle.

Instead, I'm going to copy a member here and install the Rennline smiley bumper grill, Zunsport wire mesh kit, and the copycat GT2 lip from eBay.

And after I find a fourth job to support this addiction, maybe side skirts and a GT3 style wing.

Will post some pics after the install is complete.

Can you tell me which parts I'd need to fit the GT2 radiator in my turbo? I'm planning on the GT2 bumper also. I want to do it properly.

Agree! White is so beautiful, but when I was looking they were definitely going for a large premium over the other colors

same here, white was much more than black or silver. for me , it was worth the premium. favorite car , might as well have my fav color.
