Extended warranty.....any great options?

My 2008 Turbo cab comes off factory warranty in August. The car is perfect.
I feel like I need an extended warranty as if things go wrong it can get very expensive in a hurry.

Are there any great options?
My dealer recommends(but does not sell) Fidelity.

Thank you for any input!

I have Fidelity for my 2008 bought from Circle Porsche in Long Beach. I got about 20% discount off the original quote, so keep in mind these things are very much negotiable, especially if you get quotes from 2, 3 different dealers and negotiate.

It's always 50/50 whether it's worth it to get an extended warranty - I got mine because cost was ok with me. Mine paid for itself when the engine had to be dropped for coolant leak - now I still have 2 years left.

I was advised to always get the highest level policy when you buy these things - for Fidelity it's Platinum IIRC - so you are sure of coverage and no funny fine prints. Hope this helps.

I also have a Fidelity extended warranty. If you are concerned about price, you should definitely shop around. I called Fidelity and asked them for authorized Fidelity dealers in my area. I called three different dealers.

Like cannga, I too purchased my plan from Circle Porsche in Long Beach, CA. They had the best price for the Platinum plan. Not only was Circle Porsche the best price, but they also didn't require an inspection. The other two dealers quoted me more expensive prices than Circle and said they had to inspect the car- for a fee, of course - before they would sell me the extended warranty.

I live about 50 miles away from Circle Porsche. Everything was done over the phone and through pre-paid FedEx. It was fast and easy to deal with them.

I bought my 07tt last November, with only 15k miles. I haven't made a warranty claim, yet. So, I can't say if Fidelity provides good, uninhibited claim service. However, just recently, my TPMS has stopped monitoring and I expect them to pay for replacement sensors (if that's the problem with the TPMS). I expect them to pay for fixing the TPMS because it isn't listed as an exclusion in the Platinum plan.

I also got a Fidelity Platinum plan, 6/60. I also shopped around my local dealers, there was a huge spread. I was open to either Fidelity Platinum or Easy Care Total Care. I would have preferred Total Care as they covered a couple more items, but the price was consistently significantly higher.

I got easycare but it was crazy expensive. I bought it directly from them.

Most people here say the warranty helps to keep your dealer honest on labor costs since the warranty company will only pay a certain number of hours. In my case that didn't apply - the dealer just forwarded the cost onto me. Yay!

Sign the paperwork the day before your warranty expires. Fidelity platinym 6/60 cost me 2800.00. 9k miles on OD.

I actually have a Lexus CCC warranty that I purchased where I work. In the 15 months that I've had the car, it's paid out more than $9,000! Items include: TPMS, seal/oil leak, waterpump, and a driver's side interior door handle.

I bought a 2007 TT in March of 2013 with 26,000 miles on it. It now has 39,500 miles. That's A LOT of claims in a matter of 15 months.

I was getting a major maintenance at a local shop where they discovered the waterpump problem. I had them call the warranty company to get approval, but Lexus said that I had to get it back to a PORSCHE dealer to get my car fixed. That's pretty impressive for a warranty company.

Had it on my last Porsche as well. Won't have a P-Car without VSA!!

Hope this helps!

I just got off the phone with Fidelity. The rep said they will not offer a warranty on my car. I think he was clueless.

Do you guys all get the warranty from the Porsche dealer?
