Weekend Can't Come Soon Enough!

After letting go of my '06 Carrera last october for a better daily driver, the Porsche bug hit hard again after driving my buddies Porsche 2 weekends ago!!

Decided to start looking at 997 Turbos and found one quickly that I am going to pick up this Saturday! The Porsche will not be my Daily Driver this time around. I test drove several turbos in the past week and love the power increase over the base that I had (that I thought was underpowered in torque and hp). PICS to follow soon, can't wait to be part of the P community again.

I originally started looking for a Gallardo as my weekend / exotic car but figured at this time in my life needed something a bit more 'toned down' that I can drive to work, run errands in and take to dinner out without attracting too much attention and worrying about every nick and bruise on the vehicle. Hopefully the 997 Turbo fits that bill perfectly!

Slate Grey, 6 speed, adaptive seats, backup cameras, etc...bone stock otherwise. Going to lower her, change up wheels and throw some tint on windows!

DD is a 2013 S4 that might also be soon swapped for something larger / more comfortable. S4 does the whole sports sedan VERY well (balance wise), but is not geared towards sports or luxury, so leaves something to be desired in both regards. I tried to do the one car solution for a VERY long time, but going back to having 2 cars that fill completely different niches.

Nice! Same exact situation. Have a C63 507 coupe as a DD. Only person commute and no kids. Wanted a performance weekend car so looked at Gallardos and F360s and F430s. In the end, went with 997.2 TTS because it is less flashy with much more performance. Good luck and Enjoy!

Congratz! Is it a local pickup, or are you flying somewhere to drive it back?

SO Dissapointed Right now! After flying out to Denver to pick up a 997 turbo on Friday that I thought was in great shape (aside from a few nicks here in there), the car in person told a different story.

I was SO pumped for it, spending Friday sleepless waiting for 8AM Saturday to come, I did not know what I was about to encounter in the morning...

The car was sold by a private owner - car was described as 'great condition inside and out'...but the paint looked like it hasnt seen wax OR a wash in all of its life, and interior had more dust buildup in there (not to mind trash still laying around) then my ceiling fans, and it turns out that 'New Tires' are actually tires that got put on 10K miles ago and are borderline slicks....

It almost broke my heart that somebody can not only drive/care for their (150K new) Porsche this way let alone, pick up a BUYER in it without at least cleaning out the trash from the interior. If youre selling the car for 70+K at least have the decency and courtesy to take the car through a Carwash right before!!!

Long story short, I passed on the car, caught a flight back to Phoenix today, and here I am - still searching for a CLEAN 997 turbo. I Know they are out there, especially by fellow 6speed owners.

Still Looking for 07-09 TT if anybody wants to get rid of theirs - manual only, meteor gray #1 choice of color, black or other grays considered as well, coupe...PM me...VERY serious buyer ready to buy today...

...AND downtown Denver is a cool place to visit! Probably some of the BEST food I have had in a while

Similar to my situation .
Made a deal on a car , bought a ticket , flew to Houston , waited 7 or 8 hours and seller never showed up .
Gave me one excuse after another . Finally just told me to catch a flight home the the wasn't not coming .
To make matters worse, there were no more flights out that day .
I had to rent a car .
One of the worst let downs I've ever encountered .
I see seller has car on eBay now . Beware of a black 6 speed with 41k miles on It in the Houston/San Antonio area

Ill catch hell for this but dont be so quick to pass on the Tip. The Tip and PDK hold boost where the 6speed can't. Thats why the tip is faster. Just a thought.

Id say yes to tip/pdk for a daily driver...but having s-tronic / auto in my S4 makes no sense to have two automatic cars. Turbo will be used as weekend / 1 day a week to work car. But I will agree that most modern autos or dual clutch transmissions will outrun manual counterparts.

Regardless - talking to a few forum members that seem much more reputable in car condition and upkeep then my flop over the weekend! Hopefully be able to pick something up by the end of next week.

Seems like everyones got a story or two to tell regarding a major letdown of sorts...
