A Day at the Track...
A Day at the Track...
Having resolved my boost pressure sensor issues, there was no better place to open up the car than at the track. It doesn't get any better than the Monticello Motor Club with its 3.8 miles of pristine track (full course). Got the day started with an overview of the track flags, course run-through, some skid pad runs and then onto the track.
The TTS performed great! No issues all day. We did adjust tire pressures as the day wore on as we noted +8psi all around when hot (vs. cold)! My group included a Ferrari 458 Italia (special edition), Jaguar F-Type Coupe, and a few other Porsches (mostly Caymans). I had the only 911 turbo! Monticello is a very technical track and it took a few laps to develop some cues on braking points, late apexs and kinks! Need a LOT more laps to come close to conquering this amazing track. I was told that hitting 140mph before the kink on the back straight was incredible acceleration (I have FVD to thank for that)! I ran the car in Sport mode/PASM Sport and the suspension, while good, felt a tad soft in the slower corners and "S" turns...otherwise ok. What the turbo S gives up in the corners, it more than makes up for it in the straights!

The highlight of the day was getting a few hot laps in a Radical SR8! We're talking 1,400lbs curb weight with 450+hp! Insane! Accelerates like a bat out of hell and stops on a dime! One of the founding partners offered to give me a ride in his personal SR8 (what a great guy)! Coincidentally, I ran into some former colleagues, a great bunch of guys!

This track is a must for any auto enthusiast in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area!

It was a lot of fun, BKBoosting! It takes so much concentration to drive fast, properly, on a race track but the rewards (feeling) when done right, is phenomenal. It was a light day, with only about 4-5 cars on the track at any given time...translation: not a lot of traffic and being stuck behind slower cars waiting for a "point-by"! No wait time, just staggered sessions between the Advanced group and the Touring group. Definitely a bucket list item for the auto enthusiast!
Thanks pureporsche, I was particularly impressed with some of the track-ready Caymans, the speeds they could hold in the corners was impressive. There's nothing better than seeing a Ferrari in its element, on a track! The 458 Italia is one QUICK automobile!

The track is simply amazing however there is a fair premium to enjoy it!
Like all have said...this track is great and if you some extra $$ floating around probably worth it.
I think they are at 350 or so members.
I was there last year and there might have been 3 others in the track. We ran 4x30 min sessions. In between get to relax in the clubhouse and afterwards a quick ride back to the NYC area.

It was a blast...the Laguna Seca of the East Coast! I'll be going back, can't resist the fun of thrashing around in the turbo! If I get serious with this, I would need to change the brake pads to track pads, out with the PCCBs on track days!
Absolutely!
