997.1 Tip basic bolt ons question

Hi guys, I finally decided to pick up a low mile 997.1 Tiptronic car in the spring and just do flash/exhaust/drop in filter. Call it a day and enjoy the car. I know that's very basic for members of this board but I took a ride in a car that had that set up and was very happy. I wanted to know if you guys also thought a simple set up like that was reliable and should offer lots of trouble free times. My plan is to just enjoy the car and keep it long term. When stuff breaks I'll upgrade if from there. Thanks and can't wait to get my first turbo next year!! I will be searching for

07-09 Turbo tiptronic car
low miles mint condition
silver or gray
black interior
sport chrono is only must have option for me.

A good flash and exhaust really wakes up a 997.1tt. There are many suppliers of ECU tunes as well as makers of exhaust systems, and you will find many more opinions on which are the best. Exhaust and tunes have been the subject of many emotional threads on this forum, so do a lot of research before you decide which are for you. You should be very happy with just the flash and exhaust, but you may find that increases in power and torque can be addictive, and in time you may want to try other mods which are plentiful. The filter, however, may not be the best investment. Once again much has been written on this forum.

Ok thank you!! Yes I figured in time maybe I'll do more mods but for now I'd like to just do the flash and exhaust and learn as much about the car and its driving characteristics as possible. That's basically like doing bolt ons for the Porsche right?? I mean the flash and exhaust wouldn't really stress the car or drive-line out that much?? I'm usually not even that hard on my cars.

Of course the exhaust is a "bolt on" replacement of the stock unit and you can go with 200 cell or 100 cell cats as well as catless. It all depends on the sound and performance that you want. The ECU flash is done either by sending you stock ECU off for a mod or through computer download through the DME port which is very quick and convenient. The exhaust and flash will provide a dramatic increase in performance, but should not put an undue stress on the Mezger engine which has a reputation for being extremely sturdy and responsive to mods.

Yea thats what I meant. The car will be a tiptronic as well but I heard they are pretty stout for the simple mods I wanted to do. I will be having protorsport do the work when I get the car. Thanks for your help

+1. These cars are very reliable especially at that level. There are many great options and lots on the table as far as improvement in the experience!
With performance and sound.

Thanks guys, my friend has a 997.1 manual and it has about 650-675 built bu protosport in butler NJ. He is going to help me find the right car in the spring next year. Can't wait!! I drove his the other day and almost needed a change of underwear, I have had fast cars before 650rwhp c6 supercharged vette but it's the raw traction of the turbo that just makes it seem like a whole different animal. I knew i had to have one.
