reusing dual mass flywheel during new clutch install

There's a bit of debate on this topic. According to Sachs, you can leave the Dual Mass Flywheel WITHOUT resurfacing (if it's not damaged) on the first clutch change. Any subsequent clutch changes (on the 2nd and so forth) requires a new FW.

Your thoughts? GO!

I reused mine and wish I had resurfaced or gotten a new fw, it engages a bit uneven/vibrating especially if in reverse.

Perhaps a dumb question but was it inspected? Maybe it had heat spots and uneven/warped spots.

p.s. I believe you have the sachs 2.5 right? How's it holding up with the e85?

Yes it was inspected and I guess I should have gone with a new one. It had some minor uneven/spotted patches and it works and holds up fine.

It just isnt perfect

If you are changing out the clutch anyways, I would seriously consider a light weight aluminum fly wheel. You'll get some chatter at idle, but much faster revs. Well worth the sacrafice. Relatively inexpensive too.

I put a 2.5 in my 09 with about 29K at the time. Inspection showed no hot spots or damage so I retained the original flywheel with no problems at all. Regarding light weight flywheels, besides gear rattle clutch engagement can be a little more challenging given it's reduced mass. Certainly helps throttle response though.
