clear bra

Thinking of getting this for my new TTS. Wondering if you all think it's actually worth it. I haven't had it on any of my cars before and never got a rock chip. But I never drove any of them over 1-2 years really.

I'll be doing 7-12k miles per year. I plan to keep this car for at least 4-5 years maybe longer.

Definitely - especially if your car is a dark color. The front end of the 997 is a rock magnet.

Absolutely. It will keep your car looking almost-new. At resale time, that's worth a lot as well.

I recently had the original one pulled off and replaced with a new Xpel system. The original 3M clear bra worked amazingly well. The front end had a decent amount of gouges that I assume were from larger rocks. Once the old clear bra was pulled off, the paint underneath was flawless.

This is right after the swap to the new clear bra. Not bad for a 7 year old, 40k mile car eh?

997.2 TTS is infamous around these parts
My 2012 TTS has had Speedfilm on the front bumper, hood, mirrors, around all four wheel and more since new and at 35k+ miles, still looks new.

I have had 3 different materials on my 2011 tts. The xpel ultimate is the best, clearest least orange peel product. The venture looks great wear poorly and the 3m scotch guard is old technology. It has a clear coat so you can polish it, it yellowed the fastest and the xpel ultimate made it a dinosaur IMHO. I did my hood complete, both front fenders, both rock guards, in Er wheel well lips, both splat areas 2layers so I can peel one off and still have a layer.

I am jealous of the GT2. What coverage do you have on it? Would whole entire front be enough? Porsche from the factory put clear bra on the rear quarters where it's wide.

Actually I just had the Cayenne done in Expel ultimate by the go to guy in Atlanta for high end cars. He has been doing this for over 12 years and according to him, the SUNTEK has a little bit nicer (smoother) finish and its what he recommends for the really high end stuff like Lambos and Ferraris etc. He said its better for darker colored cars as well. The Expel is also very good of course but just not quite as nice as the Suntek according to him. The Suntek only has a 5 year warranty however, whereas the Expel has a 10. And yes, this is a MUST have for our cars!!!

Also it was about $1200 dollars to do the entire front end of the Cayenne,+headlights+doorhandle cups+rear bumper+mirrors. So that's about what youll be looking at probably.

I heard something similar. But for every 10 people that recommend xpel ultimate maybe 1 or 2 recommends Suntek. I rather do xpel because of the 10 year warranty.

I have heard that Suntek is easier to work with for the installer.

I would definitely put it on, however, the clear bra also gets scratched and you will get holes in it as rocks hit it, but the car will look 100 times better with it than without it.

I did the whole car! There is no way you can tell! The trick is in the pre wrap detailing. My paint correction guru recommended I do it!
I also have a full wrap on my Ford GT

Xpel is self healing. No swirl marks as heat repairs the scratches. They took a wire brush to mine and then poured hot water on it. The scratches immediately disappeared. Amazing stuff.

I've seen cars with Xpel which looks good and smooth but I noticed that the edges are not fully covered. Is this normal?
