Hi to all! New to Forum. I am looking at a 2012 Turbo S with only about 17K miles on it. Comes pretty well optioned. Are there many differences from 2012 to to 2015? What are the weaknesses with this model? Looking to use year round and also do some HPDE too. Any mods required to track? Thanks.
My other options are Nissan GTR or as a fair weather car 2015 ZO6......
I own a 2011 cab TTS. Very happy with the car. It can be a daily driver year round if you opt for snow tires.
It is a super car that can be tracked or taken out Saturday night for dinner.
AWD system is fantastic, loads of grip right out of the box. I don't track this car. But I have friends that do track their cars and its great out of the box. The ceramic brakes are expensive to replace and others with experience can chime in. I have seen PCCB's at the track on these cars, mostly by guys who are not at the track often. I have seen track junkies swap out to steel rotors. I know zero about it so I will leave it there.
The suspension is fine for most, can be improved upon depending on what you are willing to sacrifice in comfort. If you have the $, there are a lot of people willing to take it. And many are happy with their mods. I decided I will stay stock on this car.
IMHO, I like the car unmolested and as is. To me it is a beast that I can drive hard, easy and it always the best at what I need it to do.
There are other who are happy with their mods. I demand my cars be as rock solid as possible and I have been scarred by past experience in modifying cars. This was long ago, but I still remember.
I think it is the very best High performance car that you CAN DD. I don't DD mine because I drive a lot and in NYC, the roads would eat it up and I want it to stay special and in great shape.
here's mine:

I just picked up a 2012 Turbo S and love it. I use it as my DD and it does an excellent job. If I want to spice things up a bit there is Sport Mode and for more excitement Sport Plus. On the fence on mods, but if I do thinking about MaCarbon Steering Wheel and Sharkwerks exhaust.
Difference between 2012 and 2015? '15 is more more expensive, is faster, look different, feel different. I don't think anyone can convey the differences. It's best if you go check them out for yourself.

Is the 2015 Turbo S faster in a straight line than the 2011-2013 997.2 Turbo S? The chassis/suspension is better. But it's also larger and heavier. Not sure the claimed 30 additional HP can overcome the weight disadvantage. The engine and trans are the same. Some of the hardware has been updated according to the work done by Champion as posted in the 991 Turbo subforum.

I have a Turbo S and a GTR, and both are stock. The GTR is more of a daily driver, it rides smoother, is quieter, and feels more 'normal' to drive everyday. The 911 is much quicker, but I also have an older GTR with about 60hp less than a new one. I know they look similar on paper, but the cars drive and feel very very different from each other, that I can't accurately express in words. I'd say neither have any big "weaknesses". My advice is to drive both, and see what you prefer.
