your opinions on cost to replace stone guards

Hi all,

My car is currently at the dealer for an oil change and I noticed my stone guards right below the intercooler ducts are chipped. I was quoted $240 to replace them. Is that a decent price given the obvious Porsche dealership "tax"? If not, where else could one have them replaced or is it an easy DIY?

TIA

That sounds right. I went to a tint shop and they quoted me $200.

I removed my old ones myself and polished the paint then had the top local clear bra shop replace them for $75.

Agree with others. Not that difficult to remove...install, or have local tint/bra vendor do it.

Both sides $80.00 here. Circle Porsche

Good luck.

Does anyone have a black remedy instead of clear on this?

I have a black car and, my front tire went off once at higher speed and sandblasted the passenger rear intake panel. Thought about shrink wrapping this but, maybe there is a 3mil option.??

If you track your car. Save your paint troubles and DO IT!

Thanks all for replies and comments. I'll see if I can get dealer to do it for less, otherwise I'll check out some of the links and see if I can do it myself. As always, much appreciated!

You can get a local shop to vinyl wrap that part (other side would have to be done for completeness) and then apply clear bra material over the vinyl. Here is a quick, removable option in black: http://magnagrafik.com/Products.aspx. They can send a picture of the turbo version if you ask them. They are made in black gloss & matte as well as CF (look).

When I had Xpel clear bra installed, I happened to notice the distinct discoloring of the stone guards, and had the installer do the guard area for an extra $100. The old guards were easily removed using a heat gun and slowly pealing them off. Total time involved for removal and replacement was about 20 min. The Xpel is great but not is thick as stock.

My car is white and the first thing I did was remove the factory stone guards and replace them when the car was filmed.
