Best way to launch your stick shift turbo in a drag race
Hello All
To those who love the track, and have the experience, what would be the best way to launch your stick shift 911 turbo in a drag race, I almost burn my clutch once by launching at approx. 40k RPMs???
My client with 93 oct. tune only on a stock car with stock ICs and exhaust as well as oem clutch. took him 6 tries to figure it out... in hot July of 2013.

First time to the track lol. He had it 6 months. He had a little experience running supras but he was cutting 11.2s and 11.1s then on last try managed a 10.9.
I want to throw some ICs , open exhaust and a race file

Cobb has brake boosting. I am afraid to use it as I don't want to break things.
Is your car Manual? I didn't give him launch control nor brake boosting on that file. But with a tip you Can actually create boost while holding the brake pedal at the line via mapping.

Given he's a manual I say get him a set of DSS rear axles first. A couple more great launches and wheel hop he might be pushing it off the track with a broken axle especially if he's lowered

Oh I know all about broken axles. Back in 2006 i had my share of broken ones trying to run 9s. I even broke a drive shaft one lol. Later they heat treated it and used some other material and it's been holding.
If you leave smooth without wheel hot it will not break axles. 996s were prone to do that by the Awd 997s seem to hold a tad better.

So Markski what did he do? Hard to tell what engine noise was what..
Did he slip the clutch all all? What rpm?
Drop the tires pressure to 24 psi for now.
You have to slip the clutch a little ad you take off vs hair dropping it.
Try at 3k.
You can have the LC set at lets say 3300 rpm and smash the pedal and slightly modulate the clutch so you figure out when it starts to let go. It's realliy an art form to say the least. Not really that easy. P cars are super hard to to launch then with a short 1st gear you have to shift right away and then you loose precious time if your not quick.
Less air in tires. Maybe toyo 888s etc. All that will help.
