Airbox mod: Turbo to Turbo S?

I recently purchased a Turbo S carbon fiber airbox for my 997.2 turbo and wanted to know if anyone had experience removing and re-applying the metal name plate on the airbox? Wanting to put my Turbo plate on the CF airbox to avoid the poser look.

What is poser about the stock airbox look?

The CF airbox says Turbo S. I don't have a Turbo S.

I bet if you use a little heat it would peel off no problem. You could even use a plastic razor blade to help peel it up without damage. I'd do it on the plastic turbo one first to get the hang of it

That's what I was thinking, just looking for a little reassurance I guess.

I'm very positive actually. If you want to wait until this weekend I'll do it to mine. I polished my silver part and while it looks good by itself, it doesn't match the engine bay. I'm going to either paint it basalt black or wrap it in vinyl.

Just be careful and don't use too much heat or hold the heat too close to the box.

That would be great. I'm not in a hurry. Thank you!

What did you use to polish it? Mine could use some TLC.

Frankly, the only people who will see your airbox are you, your technician and folks at car & coffee (if you pop the hood for them...LOL). I wouldn't consider having a turbo S script on your stock airbox as being a "poser".

On the hand, if you go around telling people that you have a turbo S (see my airbox for proof) but that you "de-badged" the S on the rear...then that would be posing! I don't think you would do that. If it were me, I would leave the airbox alone...but it's your call.

Good points! I'll see how Chris does on his this weekend and if it appears to difficult, I'll just leave it as is. It does look night and day better than the dull black plastic airbox.

I wanted to go with the CF but decided to give a little color to my engine bay.
