Lightbulb Fog Lights

Has anyone put in brighter fog lights in the OEM bulb location?

If so what did you use and how were the results? I've searched (maybe not well enough) and it seems like lots of people are doing aesthetic changes like HID's or LED's. I want maximum lumen output. I live in the mountains and would love to increase the broadcast intensity, distance, and width.

I put some nice PIA super-bright lights in there, but they burnt out in about a year. I replaced those with some other really bright lights and they burnt out in less than a year. At $100 a pair in Canada, I finally said screw this and bought some cheapo standard brightness lights and everything has been fine.

I also tried some LED replacements but at the time, they weren't really bright enough to be used as driving lights. That was about a year ago and the technology may now allow for brighter ones, but I've given up.

I'm in the process of doing that. Just purchased LED bulbs. I will see how it performs. If not then I will step it up to an HID

Let me know. Do you have any idea how many lumens the OEM setup puts out?

I was thinking the baby lamp from these guys could work but I'm a little weary just because I prefer to not butcher electrical: https://www.clearwaterlights.com/

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I noticed there were no pics posted of the HID setup so I figured I would update this thread with a few pics of the HID setup I used.

Don't mind the mess in the garage at the moment...

I got the OPT7 AC CANBUS HID Kit with 6000k H3 bulbs. Light output from this setup is advertised to be 4,100 Lms. The light output from these HIDs are amazing!

I wonder if they are available in a 3,000K version. That would be awesome for fog....
