Werks1 Intercooler Install

Hey guys.

I tried installing the Werks1 intercooler on my 08 911 Turbo. The kit comes with 8 screw but each intercooler only has 2 holes for the screws. The other 2 holes are covered up or filling in.

Also, after I modded the intercooler housing, it seemed to not get close enough to the body. Not snug like the stock intercooler housing was. This caused my silicone hoses to not cover up the intercooler and y-pipe fully.

Can someone please help?

I thought Werks1 made only carbon fiber stuff. If you are talking about Champion coolers I'm sure they will help you out tomorrow.

Probably going to need to see some pictures in order to figure out what's going on, but Champion stuff generally fits very well. My guess is you either have the 997.2 intercooler kit or accidentally did something goofy while fitting them.

It actually says "werks" on the side of the intercoolers.

Hi porsche-driver. Can you possibly provide some pictures of the area you're having difficulty with?

The issue you could be having is that there is a very small (maybe 1-2mm) ridge that needs to be trimmed off the intercooler shrouds where it makes contact with the face of the new intercooler. On the OEM intercoolers, that little ridge fits into a corresponding slot in the OEM cooler.

Just for the purpose of general knowledge...our 997.1 and 997.2 intercoolers are identical, the only difference is the hose kit that we provide. That shouldn't effect mounting of the coolers themselves. Also...some earlier productions units of our intercoolers do have the Werks1 logo stamped into the cast end tank.

The top 2 mounts have threads for the screws but the lower 2 mounts look like this. There are no threads.

Based on those pictures, there's definitely something broken. Those lower two mounts should be threaded to accept the mounting hardware that comes with the kit. From what I can see it looks like the previous owner either snapped off the screws in the threads, or broke off the mounts. Either way there's something wrong with those mounting points.

I am in the middle of installing the same intercoolers on my 997.1, and my bottom mounting posts are solid, not threaded, just like the one shown here. It looks clean, not broken, like it was cast that way. I also did not get mounting bolts for the two posts that are threaded, and cannot seem to find a bolt with the correct threads. Can someone give me the correct bolt size and thread pitch please? Are they metric?
