Can I just upgrade my Turbos?

Can I just upgrade my Turbos? or do I have to have it tuned again? Any other changes required?

By upgrade turbos, I mean just replace with better/bigger internals (have mine upgraded).

This is a simple one, yes! But really why wouldnt you want a custom tune after such a fairly large upgrade?

Typical turbo upgrade is usually:

-Turbos
-Intercoolers
-Fuel
-Tune

You can push the stock turbos pretty far with injectors + intercoolers, but you'll always get more power out of an upgraded setup.

With any turbo upgrade, you're going to need a reflash of some sort.

The answer is it depends Your tune 'may' run just fine without issues depending on what's done to the turbo internals but its not recommended without at least some way of datalogging and reviewing the logs to assess. Depending on what's done on the turbine side you may introduce enough lag to cause an underboost code or you might overshoot target and cause limp mode due to overboost or worst case cause enough knock on lower octane and cause damage.

What upgrade?

Just askin' , planning future mods.

I just had clutch, coils, plugs and a tune.

Wondering if I could just DIY a turbo replacement.

Thanks, I just had a tune and was wondering if the tune would be adaptive enough to compensate for new turbos, but Now I see I probably need injectors too.

Thanks, I'm not quite sure of what turbos are available so I was just starting to think about that. I currently have about 495 ft-lbs of torque at wheels but don't want to go crazy where I would need internals upgrade.

I think the turbo swap is probably an easy diy, but you need to log and get the tune right.

I would reach out to any Cobb outfit here, like PTF OR samboTT

A tune is necessary to ensure everything is good.

It would be like getting all sorts of great suspension mods and running on 10 year old dried up tires. Yes, you may notice some difference, but you are really going to be missing out.
