Steering Wheel from gen2 to gen1

Hi, I have read a lot of threads but none matching my case.
I own a 997 Turbo 2007 manual transmission with Multifunction steering wheel. I am interested in the newer multifunction steering wheel of the gen 2. I tried to swap the steering wheels but a lot of things aren't working. I also bought the steering column control switch and the clock spring of the gen 2.
I cannot seem to find any combination that works. My new steering wheel is also heated...
Any ideas?

I believe yo have to take it to a dealer or mechanic with PIWIS to have it coded. I don't have any personal experience with this, I'm just restating something that I read.

Agree with Dennis, have it coded, at the moment the car does not 'see' the new parts.
Please let us know if the heat will work. All the rest has been done before so should be working once coded.

Thanks for the input. First of all my best wishes for the new year!
Unfortunately it is not that easy to work in my case. I forgot to tell you that I have a PIWIS myself, and that I tried at a dealer who "read" some data before changing the steering wheel in order to "write" it back with the new steering wheel. The problem was that the multifunction buttons did not work and as you take the key out of the ignition you had a brief horn hunk
The programmer really tried a lot of things at the dealership but nothing worked. He also check with PIWIS that every press of the steering wheel buttons was sending a signal to the car, but the car stereo did not receive them. If anyone knows more details on the process I can try with my PIWIS but I need exact instructions for the PIWIS programming.

Try an other Porsche dealer maybe ? You need to find someone who knows the ins and outs of Piwis.
Could the heated part be the problem ? Did they get the heat to work ?

Are you sure you purchased the correct control module for that wheel? I know that is the key to making the swap work. That and someone who really knows the Piwis system programming. You may want to find a indy who does more programming and not just resetting stuff like most dealers do. When I had mine done (tip Not Manual) it wasn't as easy as just turning things on. He went into subcategories to change things. I had the horn honk also when I had the wrong module in it. Good luck. Hopefully you get it figured out.

The heated wheel is not the problem, my money is also on the correct control module but I don't know the correct part number and I cannot spend another 300€ if I am not sure. That's why I need any info I can get... someone who has successfully done the swap. Thanks for you help

The thing is if you don't have the right module you wont get the menu in the piwis to turn on the functions you want. Did you try your original module to see if it may work. On monday you can try and give suncoast a call. They have a lot of info on what module is needed for what wheel.

Yes I tried the original module as well with no luck. I have send an email to suncoast in the past about this but never got a reply. Do you know which part have you used for your tiptronic?

Module for the wheel-99761328901. This one had the ability to access the menus to stop the horn beep and make the paddles work. Don't know about the multifunction because the paddle wheel doesn't have any. You would be better off calling suncoast if possible (I understand the time difference makes it difficult) because I remember there was one person in particular that had all the info on this stuff. Hope this helps.
