Tiptronic for very heavy traffic?

Need a quick answer here. I have always had Manual 911's going back. I ended up moving to a BMW for my Daily commute and it is going back off lease.

I have found basically a perfectly spec'd 997.1 turbo. Can the Tiptronic handle LA / 5 freeway traffic for hours and hours on end. The turbo motor is going to be happy that 80% of its life is going to be at idle or slightly above unless it is the weekend? Is there any way to move the shifter buttons to paddles on the steering wheel for weekend drives? The Tip is just a standard automatic transmission right?

I really want the manual but I spend 10-12 hours a week in bumper to bumper traffic and I have a track cra for the weekend.

Other option is to spend another ~25-30K and find a comparable PDK car in the DI motor. I knid of like the noises the old car makes and it has less "tech" on the inside as well which I like.

Paddles like this so its more like the newer cars. They move on the tiptronic as you turn the wheel which is odd for me.

Sorry don't know the answer to your question but I would think the car would be perfectly find crawling along the LA freeway system.

But is the PDK 2010+ cars really 25-30k more?

In the convertible it seems that way. I can get a really good 08 vert with the tiptronic for ~68-70K. Say sub 20K miles in a good color with a original MSRP around 160K.

Its 95K or so for a clean 2010/2011 vert right now with certification.

The 2009 with the DI motor and upgraded interior and a tiptronic would be the best commuter I imagine but finding one is difficult. Lots of coupes though.

No engine or transmission changes in 2009, just interior electronics (which you said you don't care for). There are plenty of 2008 tip cabs out there. You have to go high mileage to get into 997.2 with PDK for

Well drove the PDK 997.2.

Fastest 480? hp car I have ever been in. Even my viper did not get light at the front end on launch like that car will do. PDK is fantastic. Think I might need to do some searching for a 997.2 with the PDK. Honestly the GTS or S would be more then enough car after driving both.

After owning many MT sports cars, including two 911 turbos, my age dictated tiptronic when I got my 997.1TT. No regrets whatsoever. Put it in manual mode and shift with the buttons in sport = almost as fun as a 6MT. Use in auto mode in traffic = just like grandmas auto transmission. Best of both worlds for me. Oh btw the tip is actually quicker than the 6MT.

And if you like the Pdk wheel you can just swap it in.

2007-2009=480hp
2010-2012=500hp
997 Turbo S=530hp

AWD and PDK do wonderful things to make it fast. Honestly a 3500+lb car with "only" 500hp should be/feel as fast as it is.
