NEW 2006 Burton Custom X 156
NEW 2006 Burton Custom X 156
I've been meaning to post this up here and on ebay for a while now.
Brand new, never ridden or even taken out of the bag 156cm Burton Custom X. White topsheet / Black base (rare apparently, and pretty slick because it doesn't show dirt). This is an amazing board and won Transworld Snowboarding magazine's Top 10 Good Wood award this year.
The board's page on the Burton site: http://www.burton.com/gear/products.asp?productID=6
These retail for $599. I'll let it go for $450 shipped to anyone on 6Speed (in the US) and I'll even throw in some stickers and an Angry Swede T-Shirt. I'm going to put it up on ebay later tonight or tomorrow, so if you're interested, le me know ASAP.
You can email me if you like:

thanks! it's a sweat board, but I'd get killed by my client (atomic) if I rode it.
I shoud have put it on ebay a few weeks ago, they were going for $500+, now they've dropped a bit to $475 or so

I might be able to get you an Atomic if you're interested. They're my main client, so they're not too hard for me to get for a good price. Let me know if you want me to look into it, they ride excellent as well.

This is a bit off topic, angryswede - but I imagine that you could probably help me, if anyone.
I want to get into snowboarding and skiing this winter. I've not been since I was very, very young. What would be a good board / starter set to begin with?
Thanks!

For bindings, I'd actually suggest getting Burton's. Their bindings are just so good, I wouldn't mess with anything else. The Flow stuff is pretty interesting, also www.flow.com Their bindings aren't traditional strap types, their highback folds down and you slide your foot in and then lock the highback up. A lot of people really like them.
For boots, get some 32's. They're so light and so comfortable, it's amazing. I've been riding for a really long time and always had problems with my toes going numb + my feet hurting. Once I started riding in 32's, that problem stopped. You can check their stuff out at www.soletechnology.com

I can you get you a 59 pretty easy. That's the size I ride, so they won't think twice about it. What kind of riding to you want to do + what size feet do you have? I think you said you were taller, but if you have under a 13 you should be able to get away with most of the boards. It really depends on what kind of terrain you want to go on. The axum is a really fun board, so is the Triarc. They're both a bit wider so they'll float you in powder good, but they're not super wide so they ride funny when it's not perfect conditions.
They have some really high tech boards with titanium rods in them for more pop and stuff, but I hate riding them, so I don't recommend them. My favorite board to ride is actually their $300 (cheap) Hatchet. We had them make up some custom angry hatchets a few years ago. We're supposed to get more, but it won't be until march or april.
pm or email me if you want me to check on a board for you.

I have a 155 and I really like it. Longer boards=less control. I can get the speed I want with my board and still have great control over it. I *think* you're 6' 1" or 2"... this would be a good board.
Steve you must also consider shoe size. One of my main problems with wearing a size 12 boot is that my toes hang over the board. NOT COOL!! THey make wider boards for people who want to get around it or I guess you can be like me and just deal with it. But it is something major to consider.
