Sorry, just thought it would be fun to have a little fun with you guys with a click-bait title.Question: If you don't take your car to the track how do you ever enjoy it? I'm serious asking this. My old 991 C2S was in a lot of ways more fun because I could wring that car out in first and second gear for a lot longer getting on a freeway or drive it a lot harder around town because it didn't put me into the speeds that would land me in jail so quickly.
I find that I'm driving my car around in the same way (albeit more annoyed about potholes and driveway slopes) I drive my TDI Golf SportWagen. It's, ahem, pretty boring!
How do I have a little more fun?

How do I have a little more fun?Cant think of any other N/A engines <100k$ with a dual clutch other than the 911 and R8. Drove the 991 c2s and cant justify another 911. So cayman and R8 are the only options and cayman just seems more rational.
e92 M3 has a naturally aspirated 414 hp 4.0 v8 that revs to 8,500 rpm and the best dual clutch transmission ever made. Doesn't shift as fast as the PDK but the driver engagement is 1,000 times better than the PDK. I would only look at low mileage 2013's with the ZCP (competition package). They can still be had with a warranty for maybe $45-$48k.
I bought mine out of its lease a year ago as I couldn't dream of getting rid of it.

I have considered the M3. Used to have an e90 335 and have driven a couple e92 m3s and im just not sure they are "sports car" enough for me. Plus i kind of feel like if im going to be paying high maintenance and repairs i might as well drive something that looks a little more special than the bimmer. Maybe i need to drive one again though. It does fit my criteria and it is much cheaper. Doesnt seem like there are really any certified ones which is unfortunate.
By the way, my M3 makes 570 wheel HP with just a supercharger and catted exhaust on pump gas and destroyed a 997.2 Turbo S in a half mile race. It's a 130 trap 1/4 mile and 158 trap 1/2 mile car. With one suspension mod (solid subframe bushings) and RE71R tires it can do 0-60 in low 3 seconds. And on stock suspension I am faster than just about every Porsche at the track.
So maybe it doesn't look like an exotic or sports car but the chassis, suspension and engine are all way over engineered so a couple mods and this thing is a beast yet tame enough to daily drive. In fact each morning I have to decide to drive my M3 or 991 Turbo S and most of the time I pick the M3 because it's actually a better and more fun / engaging car to drive.

If you equate fun merely with top speed then 'enjoying' the TTS on a consistent basis on public roads can be challenging. However many forget that you can push the PDK gear stick to the left of "Drive" and drive the car in manual mode using the gear lever (don't use the steering mounted shift paddles) to wring some fun out of the car! 99% of the numbness I feel in the TTS is directly related to the smooth & efficient shifting PDK transmission. Once you have to change gears yourself, solely with your right hand, it's a different experience!! Not a true, pure manual but definitely more fun that letting the PDK do all the work.
Just remember that with the PDK gear **** you push UP to upshift and pull DOWN to downshift (counter intuitive I know), I once pulled down when attempting the upshift and the car reacted (I could imagine the car looking at me) like I was a moron!!
Try it, it definitely changes the driving dynamics. For max fun, select "Sport" mode...

America has great roads, but unfortunately the consequences of getting caught is very high. Going over 100mph can get you in serious trouble (reckless driving, etc).
Where I live now, going 160+mph on the freeway is like every time I take the car out. That's why I love my TTS and had to sell the GT3 because the GT3 was just too slow on the street. I love my Alpha 12 the most when it runs, but that is a broken POS most of the time.

yup this is a problem! For a trip on the freeway/highway the TT is great, but for in town my wife's '05 Boxster is more engaging and fun to actually DRIVE. Although my daughters point out how quiet it is! Feels a bit like being on a skateboard again.....
