Question Tires

I have a 2011 Turbo S. My rear tires (Michelin Pilot Sport) are down to the wear bars and no one that I can find has any in stock. Two Porsche dealers I have talked to say they are backordered from Michelin.

If I switch brands I will have to replace all four tires. Pirelli and Bridgestone are options that have been given to me. They are less expensive and I am told not as soft (sticky) possibly giving a bit rougher ride and sacrificing a bit on handling.

Do any of you have experience with these brands and opinion as to ride and handling? Thanks guys..

Bridgestone S04.... Drove approximately 2300 miles on them in March.....out to West Texas...lots of clear open roads....no issue with noise, handling was great and wear appears to be good. Price point is very good for the performance given. Several Porsche friends have changed to them and are equally impressed.
Had Pirelli PZero on my Panamera, great tire but seemed to wear quite quickly....but it's a different car.....

+1, have driven the S04's on street and track and consider them as good as Michelins at double the cost.

I have a set of S-04's that are being installed next week. I'll make a thread with impressions after a few hundred miles are on them.

You will probably receive a wide variety of opinions on tires, but I would avoid Pirelli. I have never had a good set of Pirelli tires except for a set of Cinturatos back in the '60s.
Don't overlook Hankook. Not as good as Michelin, but they are priced at a point that I can easily ignore the minor differences

I have Pirellis

Great tires, but they do indeed have a soft compound and wear rather quickly.

I am switching sneakers in a few weeks and went back to Michelin but 20" this time around

I would also contemplate getting some used ones (just 2) to get you by. You can find some online and then when they come back in stock, bam, you are set. I have had to do this a couple of times - no problems at all.

First I would ask, what are your plans with the car??? Track, road racing, 1/2 or mile...

I have some Michelin's Sport Cup 2's and they have held up pretty good, but I want more grip going to go with some Toyo R888.

Yoko Advan AD08R's... the best balance of road tire vs track tire out there IMO. I've tried them all - R888's, Cup2's, RE11, PSS.

R888 = highest grip for longest over a session. Very loud.
Cup2 = almost equal grip, better street/track tire vs R888, quieter. Picks up rocks/debris like crazy.
PSS = great street tire, but would never use these on the track.
AD08R = quiet, comfortable, fantastic steering response, doesn't pickup rocks, 90% grip of Cup 2's, lasts a long time.

I was in the same boat with PSS back ordered until October. Went with Bridgestone RE-11s and have been very happy. I mention that I attend 4-5 track events a year and these tires are phenomenal on the track.
