ADV1 wheels delayed. now rethinking 20" wheels vs. 19". opinions welcome
I've been waiting for my 20" ADV1 wheels since early may

. From what I understand, they moved all of their manufacturing in house, and MHT is not cutting their wheels anymore. I'm a bit concerned not only with the lead time, but can ADV cut wheels as goot as MHT (who is an enormous supplier to many names including their own).
I know the guys from Wheelsboutique, and they have been perfectly transparent throughout the whole process. I used them on a BMW build and went HRE back then.. Never had an issue, and fitment was spot on-great folks there.
I have already lowered the car while waiting for the wheels to arrive. All of this waiting is making me not only consider another mfr, but possibly sticking to 19's due to bigger sidewall and performance. I am not going to track this car-ever. It's a street machine only.
Thoughts and opinions welcome.
Thanks!

I personally like the 19" size better because it looks right for the 997 body shape.
20" is a bit much for the 997 and on some wheel designs, makes the rotors look small.
I also like having a bigger sidewall and comfort which the 19" offers.
20" profile messes up your alloys as well if you went into a pothole etc...

I'm gonna run a Forgeline GT1's on my Turbo S in a 20" wheel. Looks killer to me. HRE's are also a great choice, but twice the price... Check out AWE's 991 and you can see their car running the exact wheel I'm gonna run.
Post pics when you get em mounted up. I'm sure they will look great!

Beautiful car.. I'd be torn also.
20" is definitely the right choice !
The wheel wells are filled to perfection with 245/35 and 325/25R20 .
With the stock 19" sizes something is always missing imo.
Tire technology has progressed a lot since 2006.
Super Sport tires in 20" provide more comfort than old 19" tires.
And hopefully those 20" wheels you are getting are as light (or lighter) as stock. Light wheels have an impact on improving comfort and handling.
My car right after my 20" went on 2 weeks ago, couldn't be happier.

Agree on your comments on tire size... def go with 245/325. Btw, do you have any more pics of your interior? Are those gt2 seats? Looks awesome

Do you daily drive this car, or it a weekend fun/show toy only?
If you daily drive it, I'd say stick with 19" since it will lower your risk of bending or breaking anything and will give you a smoother ride. If this is just an occasional driver, I'd suggest 20", since it looks a bit more aggressive and opens up more options from the major forged manufacturers.
If you decide the lead time is taking too long from ADV.1, let me know. We have a very good relationship with Brixton Forged, and they have some beautiful designs; offering all the same custom finishing options as ADV.1 and others. All of my customers who have gone with Brixton have been extremely satisfied.

We're excited! Can't wait to see these bad boys on the car
