Recaro Sports CS

I am thinking about switching to these seats as I trust the quality and the pricing is reasonable. I would be buying them WITH recardo side airbags.
Has anybody installed these with airbags, I am a little concerned about clearance to the car. And this would be a no refund kinda thing (custom from Italy)

Anybody with CS's care to comment if there is room for the airbag?

awesome is a strong word. No doubt the factory seats are good. But I want more support, less weight and I am going to get custom upholstery anyway.

Haha whats up brother.

I do have the recaro sportster CS seats but they do not have the side airbag. My seats barely fit width-wise without the airbag using the BBI mounts, so as I look at these pictures I can't imagine that they would fit a 997.

Just to out it into perspective, the non-airbag seats have the manual crank to change the angle of the seat down low and the seat and crank are so wide that I have to slide the seat forward to adjust the crank because otherwise the crank will rest on the side pillar and won't be able to crank. These side airbags appear to be to be much wider than my side crank mechanism.

Thanks for the feedback. Im gonna grab some dimensions. It looks like it might be close, because the airbag is much higher than the plastic hump. Ill post here what I find out.

Good to know the basic sit fits (although barely)

Can you measure from your side bolster to that panel along the b-pillar where the airbag is? Curious how much space you have. Thank you

Wish I could but I'm out of the country at the moment. It's the overall width of the seat which appears to be the fitment issue. My seat is so wide that the manual recline mechanism is already resting against the door sill. So I have to move the seat forward a little in order to get the redline mechanism to be able to move....if that makes sense. It is located in the same place where your side airbags are located. But your airbags look like your seat is even wider than mine.

BBI sold me these seats and I think they would know if the seats you are looking at would fit.

I am planning to do the same seats also, one dealer told me that those seats are not available with the airbags for the US so you should check on that

I love the SPXs. They sponsor me for driving gear (helmets, gloves, suits etc) but I only get a minor discount on those seats. $6k is a lot of coin, especially since I would want them recovered. But they ARE -really- nice. PLus I like the idea of the Recaros with airbags.

i have had these seats and i helped my friend put them into his 997. that side airbag will NOT fit. the seat barely fits on its own and you have to trim some plastic behind the carpet to be able to slide it back. otherwise these are great, best seat IMO.
