Has anyone had success buying a starter for a 997.1 Turbo online from Amazon or Ebay? I want a new (not rebuilt) Bosch, but I'm getting conflicting part numbers. The Bosch website says SR0451N, another website says 1597401, and there's one on ebay that's supposed to fit but it's #99660410702. I haven't priced one at the dealer yet.

Dont get the Ebay part, it does not fit proper and will hit against the pressure plate and destroy it ...

ECS sells new bosche starters for less than $400 ... New oem is $1300+

^THat looks like the correct part #. Its listed at my fav. Genuine P part supplier at $878. I would not do an ebay part for a starter..

ECS was out of stock, so I ended up ordering the Bosch SR0451N from a canadian online german parts supplier. I installed it today, and it fit perfectly. The engine turns over so fast I can't believe it!

 

Hey I'm also trying to replace my starter motor but after looking at it under the car I have no idea how to get to the top bolt holding it to the flywheel housing. How did you do it? There's very little space to get in there.
