My 997.1

i figured i would make a formal introduction , seems more of the high hp guys are over here. i've been here for a while reading, learning and seeking help. anyway i bought a new to me 997.1 Turbo in april . i've been in love with porsche ever since the 997 turbo's were released. i had looked at 991's in the 2013-14 range but price was a bit steep for something i wasn't sure i would love , so i really didn't pursue the cause , the wife would kill me.

then one day i'm at a friends place and he states he has to sell his car immediately for tax reasons , it was a 2007 tip ( i know the tip deal but i really wanted one for a multitude of reasons) , car had 36k miles on it , and he had bought it from his friend thomas hayden church ( the guy from the movie sideways ) so i knew the history and was comfortable with it .

i started with a protomotive tune and exhuast, then went to a race gas tune running it on MS109 , but damn at 13 mpg , those $300 fill ups got old pretty fast , so i converted the car to E85 . had the motor pulled, did the sharkwerks coolant lines , and all the other reliability mods i read about while the car was apart .

had it done at a local indy that worked on exotics , got the car back and it had a severe boost leak , called the shop on my way home and they acted dumb founded. yeah right .. well it lost a turbo on the way home , i took it back and they spent 2 months figuring out what caused it and replacing the turbo , only to get it back with a boost actuator code and a coolant temp issue. took it back again , they replaced thermostat and said it had no codes. get home and it has the same 2 codes . at this point i took it into my own hands and basically fixed the issues in house , the coolant temp code was from a vacuum line being left unhooked and i replaced the vgt actuator .

so after having a 3 month struggle my car runs properly . i have 1100CC injectors , running E85 , and have protomotive tuning . i'm gonna do some datlog's to get the tune perfect now, but its 90% perfect with just some dead pedal when going foot to the floor from a dead stop . i got the TCM reprogrammed for the power , and the latest update on my DSC . the car is WAY stronger than tune and exhaust only, and a good bit stronger than it was on MS109 . not sure what it makes but i'm guessing well over 600 , gonna go to a local dyno day at world motorsports in the beginning of march and see !

it's so nice after a few months of total bs to have it back perfect . what are you E85 / Stock Turbo guys seeing for power numbers? what should i expect roughly ?

sorry for the long post !

Full bolt ons with E85 on stock turbos are seeing roughly 600whp I have seen a little more on aggressive tunes. 600-625whp is about the average

Hope you get those final tweaks done. This setup is hard to beat on the street

Ellis fan?

anyway, posts like this make me consider doing e85 and coolant line fixes myself.

Glad to hear you got it worked out.

cool thanks ! i've seen guys making over 700 , and then the majority in the 650 range . i'd be happy with 625 for sure. i'd like to run sub 10.50 in the 1/4 . not sure what this thing weighs .
