Looking at a 997.2 Input & Advice appreciated
Any and all input appreciated
I am looking at a 2011 Turbo S Cab GT Silver Black leather interior, 12 way AC seats , completely stock w/up graded wheels , 78k miles thats had some warranty work done (Tranny at 12k and 72k miles , 1 turbo at 72k miles too)
Its undergoing a through PPI next week and if i make a deal on it i will but another extended warranty ( 8K) just to be safe , ask is 69k and we've yet to negotiated a final price til the PPI is complete at Scottsdale Porsche next week
Til i have the PPI i know its hard to say if i will buy it but all input before i take the plunge appreciated ...like should i spend the money on a lower mileage 911 even non S etc etc...i tend to drive cars for a couple of years and sell so i need to keep resale value in mind too
Thanks,
Kevin in Denver. Colo

If you buy a lower mileage car it loses more of its value as you drive it add more miles to it. With a bit higher mileage car starting out there's less value to lose. And you pay less for the car up front.
There is the issue of the car you are considering of how many miles you might put on the car in the couple of years you own it. It has 78K miles now. Another 5K or even 10K miles might not be so bad but if the car gets close to or goes beyond 100K miles the resale value could take a bit of a drop.
Will you be able to actually road test the car? There is nothing like being able to kick the tires and light the fires when it comes to checking out a used car.
Thanks for the input
Yes I will drive and see in person as I plan to fly down next week after I get the PPI results and have come close the a final number
I agree on the 100k mark , I intend 3-4K miles a year is my guess so I could have 3 years of fun and sell with 1 year left on warranty

what warranty are you planning on buying. I just recently found out fidelity was sold and no longer offers the Extended warranty on porsche turbos !
I own a 2011 turbo S cab. It has 4,700 miles on it. The car you are looking at may infact be a great car. But 2 Tranny and a turbo and hi mileage I'd be looking for a lower price. All those things i mentioned ding the value. Imho.

I saw someone recommended a 6speed turbo. I've drove a 997.2 6'speed and decided to buy the turbo S I never planned on buying a non 3rd pedal porsche. After test Driving a turbo pdk I was sold. I still do missing a manual ever once and a while but the PDK is better than I ever was and I enjoy it totally.
Id reccommend it for everything other than nostalgia. I realize purists are cringing but this is my opinion after owning the car since new and having had the choice of ordering either a 6mt or a pdk. Not an easy choice at the time when pdk was somewhat new but I made the right one for me.

Ill never be as fast as a PDK or most drivers (I'm not that fast) and I've heard the PDK rev matching is like music from heaven, BUT, a nice rowing through the gears is theraputic to me and not having that wouldn't feel like I'm driving a sports car.
Speed is is great but also a problem. My 993tt can get me in a range too fast than I need to be. Interestingly, I've been really enjoying driving my SC. With lower horsepower and the 915 manual, it's a more engaging and an interconnected feeling with the car. All of the 911 engines feel silky and smooth and love to be opened up. It's just far easier and realistic to be able to open up my SC.
