I'm in the market for 997 turbo S.2 with around 40k to 60k miles on it. I'm coming from the BMW family was tired of seeing the same car everyday and had horrible electrical problems. Lets just say I bought F80 M3 2015 body 2 years later I had problems. I'm doing extensive research on the 997 TTS and the 991TT but if you guys can give me any advice on what to look out for would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the world of Porsche. I too came from bmw. I had a fully built RB turbo 335i with an m3 suspension and body. After getting totaled in a hit and run, I decided to search for my dream car.
Like you I looked at the 997.2 TT, 997.2 TTS and the 991 TT. I drove all of them and loved each of them. If you find a highly optioned out non S, you could almost have an S. And with after market tuning, you can make it equally as fast.
The 991 feels a little more stable at higher speeds stock, but also bulky. There are ways to tune the 997.2 to drive just like the 997.2 without the bulky feeling.
In the end, I purchased a 997.2 TTS with roughly 15K miles at the time. I would get a thorough ppi and strongly consider lower mileage. Maybe closer 20K miles... Hopefully this helps.
I love my 997.2 TTS.
I bought with 31K miles. Not a problem yet.
Only thing I did was have the PDK fluid changed (per the 6 year Porsche recommendation)
No issues with the PDK, just wanted to do it in a preventative way.

Thank you for the advice have you did any work to your 997.2 TTS and if you do a tune would it keep up with the 991TT or TTS?

Do you track or Is this your daily driver? I want this to be my DD and I'm also in new york region so we get a lot of snow when it comes to the winter.

Drove my 997.2 year round in Canada for 3 years. With a good set of winter tires it performed beautifully. I also took a winter track driving class which helped. Zero hesitation outside of the salt and grime that comes with winter driving.

Yes, I have several mods on my TTS. The 991 TT and the 997.2 TTS are basically the same performance wise stock. And a standard 997.2 TT can be tuned to be very much the same. The TTS just comes with a lot of extras as stock.

I haven't done a track or DE yet. Not sure I'll be able to due to time / money, even though I'd love to. I just don't want to abuse these horribly expense PCCB's.
I did however go to the dray strip this past wknd. for the Atlanta Streetcar Takeover event put on my 1320 video. I ran my best of 10.96 @ 124.10 MPH.
I don't daily drive it. It's my wknd. / sunny off day toy , hobby, passion car. My daily is a dept. cruiser, so my personal vehicles just sit until I'm off.
TTS's seem to have a GREAT track record as Daily Drivers. The AWD systems make them awesome for snow (with proper tires).
Here my vid of this past wknd, if you care to watch.
I had a 2010, had watched the car for 3 years, owned by a older gent down in St Simons Ga. he finally called one day, we struck a deal, I brought it home..........and I barely drove it. I have a 2008 Carrera S that is perfect in every way and the Turbo quite frankly was just 2 fast for WHERE I live. Fantastic car, but I have 30 Miles to drive to get to the “right” roads for me to drive it like I need to. I had it for 14 months and had zero issues with it. The S is simply more useful. Just my .02.

Deff should be good if it can last through Canada weather. Thanks

Yes Sir. On a better day with low temps and humidity, These stock 997.2 TTS's can do 10.7-10.8's (so I hear).
I believe it too. At least 10.8's.
A simple exhaust and tune and you're in the mid 10's.
What to look out for? I'll tell you what to look out for. A car to buy, that's it. These things are totally and utterly bulletproof. I bought a 10 year extended warranty and I have to wonder if I'll even spend a dime on it in the 10 years I keep it. I never plan on selling, it's that great. I got mine with 8300 miles for $110k but I almost bought one with 59k miles for $79k 4 years ago. If I totaled this car, I'd start searching for the exact same car. I've never driven anything quite like it and I had an 88 911 for 5 years and a 1996 C4S for 12 years. This car is in another category altogether. It does everything perfectly. The feel of the steering wheel is beyond great. PDK? I deserve not to have to shift after 30+ years of shifting in cars. I'm in terrible traffic most all day long. The car handles flawlessly.
Just get one, don't think too hard about it. You can't go wrong as long as you get a PPI.

I drive it most every day unless it's snowing.
Thank you for the advice do you have any recommendations on extended warranty even though they very strong cars? For the PPI you just set up a schedule service with a near by dealer if I'm not mistaken?

For a PPI yes, you just set it up with a dealer or independent, but in this case, I'd highly recommend a dealer. Get the warranty from your local Porsche dealer and shop it to death with a few other dealers to make sure you're getting your best deal. Tell your local dealer you are going to shop it! I paid $4031 for a 7 year, 70k Fidelity Platinum warranty with a $100 deductible from Rockville MD Porsche on 8 12 15. My mistake, I thought it was 10 year but that's my other car. I'm sure it will of course be worth every penny when I have some repairs at some point, if I have any repairs. We can second guess these cars to death but in the end, if you get a PPI and it's OK, just get a car. The rest will take car of itself. Good luck. You can PM me for my # if you ever want to discuss it. I talk for hours about how much I love my car. It's very durable as well.
