DB9 question regarding parking sensors

Hi all I'm interested in a 2010 DB9 and was wondering if a fellow owner could give me your thoughts on the following:

Do the front sensors turn on automatically when driving at slow speeds? Or does it need to be manually turned on each time?

Do the front/rear sensors detect curbs since the cars are low to the ground?

Thanks!

My 07 has front sensors and they do not turn on at low speeds. They can be turned on manually as you approach an obstacle. While they're somewhat ok at detecting a curb coming in head-first, they're a lot better when you back in. I tend to get a little closer than I'd like if I rely on the front sensors while parking forward.

Thanks ga, on the 2010 I test drove I thought that the front sensors auto came on once you get close to an obstacle without pressing any button but maybe I'm mistaken?

Or maybe the older db9s they updated the front sensors, the one I looked at is a 2010

On my 2016 Vanquish the front (and rear) sensors come on automatically when you put it in reverse and they stay on for a while after you choose a forward gear.

But if you haven't just backed up, you have to activate the front sensors using the button. I back in to parking spots most often.

Thanks, maybe I was mistaken about the db9 front sensor auto coming on.

I was told the parking sensor button doesn't work on the console any idea what issue it may be?

Also on the vanquish do the sensors beep for curbs?

That's the way it works on my 2010 Rapide.
Front sensors will turn on automatically when you approach an obstacle, I believe at speeds under 5 mph.
Same for the rear sensors.

Thanks ej, so maybe I wasnt mistaken, I thought I remembered the front sensors coming on as I got up close to an obstacle and I didn't have to press any button....

Does your rapide sensors go off for curbs or only higher obstacles?

They go off for curbs, yes, and are very (too?) sensitive.
They'll start screaming even when I am 4' away from the curb....

The manual gives conflicting info it says park assist button defaults to on once ignition on but other section in manual says that it is off on ignition start,

It does seem like some 2010 owners say it auto comes in at low speeds with no button needed

Ask my wife on the front parking sensors

The sensors only turn on when going into reverse or manually turning them on. Aston call that a "feature". You'll hopefully become use to turning the sensors on when approaching a parking space.

I have a 2012 Rapide. The parking sensors worked same on my '11 Vantage as well. Get in the habit of engaging the front parking sensors and you'll less like to have a heartbreaker.
