I think its a splitter to protect your front bumper from scrapping.

That two tone look, is pretty hideous (when its unpainted on all lower trim). But painted on sides and not on front is even worse.
I understand the scraping issue and not painting the front bumper lip, but then why paint the sides? Makes for an asymmetrical look.
I painted all my bottom trim on my TT (all four sides). Looks great but its a pain in the *** to swap out the front bumper lip. I always have two extra bumper lips painted and ready to mount, as the paint chips and cracks on the one on the car. Gets expensive to have the car always look perfect.

You could always paint the front lip; For example before you get the car you can ask the dealerships to paint the lip for you before fixing license plates etc

I'm OK with the black lip in front on that color. It won't matter on mine, as I'm getting black. I preferr the sides painted though.
BTW, my dealer will be getting an advanced death threat if front tags are screwed to my cars bumper. They will use black cable ties or something like that to get it through inspection, just like I have done on my old SLK32 and current SL55. I'll clip them when I pick it up and toss the plate in the boot.

I think is better having a black front lip cause, if happens, if you hit the ground and you brake it you can easily have this one changed...

It really is Porsche's ****-poor cheap-o approach. Order it, and you get the side rockers done.

The front and rear trims on the 996 TT and C4S are attached to the bumper covers and have to be completely off the car (bumper and all) to do them properly. The rockers, on the other hand, come right off for painting.

Go figure. 997 is probably the same. Idiots. If someone wants it painted, PAINT the front, rear and sides at the same time!

Oh well, that's why we're here.

B7R, are you in Spain for that "event"?

I'd do the skirts on dark colours untill there's a nice looking and paintable front lip.

Yeah I know. Got a call a couple of hours ago from a friend who's there. He says that he saw some amazing color combos and that the TIP was seriously FAAST.

When are you getting your turbo? My GT3 is delayed a bit, the system showed it as still being in "production" last monday.

The official lunch day for the 997 Turbo is Monday the 24th of June.
I'm expecting to "see" my car the week-end before

The good news for you Khalid, is that I've decided to get it Manual this time !
All tip. units were sold ages ago, and the first one would be in Sep. production.
