To 997TT or not
Trying to decide if I should fulfill my spot for a Sept. delivery TT. Saw the first black on black 997TT at my local dealer. Generally liked most of what I saw, but disliked the wheels, the exhaust, and a few other cosmetic items, which just seemed a little off on this car. I still am having fun with my 996TT. Although I have not yet driven the new Turbo, it feels like I would be making a baby step or incremental upgrade, and to be frank, I really don't seemed overly excited about it. On the list for an F430, but don't know how long the wait will be (F car production is slower than expected) and don't want to pay a 40-100k premium depending on whether it's a coupe or spyder.
Please give me your thoughts--especially for those of you who have owned a 996TT and who have driven or own a 997TT.
Thanks.

Try and get some seat time in the 997TT. I know where you're coming from with those cosmetic concerns, but they are really growing on me know. I think a drive may trigger some thought too
On the other hand, if you're still having fun with your 996TT, then why change? You could make an arguement for it, but why bother - especially since you're not even that crazy about it.
Decisions, decisions. I would love to be in your spot

996,997, or 430
I shared all your concerns.
Had the 996tt X50, thought the power increment would be marginal, although the new torque curve looks compelling.
Went with the F430 coupe.
NO REGRETS!

I think having the new generation Turbo would be better...starting from the engine to the style...as I can see you dislike things you can really change easily...such a new set of wheels new exhaust...but I'd suggest you not to do that!
Keep it if you really can! without doubts...

Got some seat time at lunch today in a new Turbo (guy who ordered backed out). I was impressed with the improvements over my 996 TT. I didn't buy it b/c I don't want black again. This TT is available if anybody wants it (black on black).
Steveb, I'm in your position. Wait 4 the new TT"S" or the new twin clutch Turbo. That will really make getting rid of thr 996TT a little less painless....Meanwhile, buy a F-GT it's a hell of a ride !!!

Had 996tt with ECU, filter and exhaust upgrade, with PSS-9 and f110's wheels.
Love the 997tt. Pulls easily harder than my old car. Ride is better, and adjustable due to PASM. Traction is better under hard cornering. Steering is livlier and more feedback. Plus we are starting from a baseline of 480 hp and over 500 ft lb (with overboost). Imagine what a chip and exhaust will do (600hp easy).
I also think it looks much better, with the traditional 911 round headlights and REALLY wide rear and a bigger rear wing. Much more like the silouette of the old 930 but with a more modern touch.
