Went to Pacific Porsche this morning. GT Silver 997tt with dark brown interior. Looks much better in person than the pictures. The shifter is pretty notchy compared to the 996tt.

Not sold yet, but they have a $15K markup in addition to some dealer add-on equipment.

I have my own party of one going on. I'm really liking the black more than I thought I would.

The car look fantastic in person. A slightly more modern, evolution. The styling does not seem contrived at all.

Congratulations, Be carefull!!

I have to say black just became my favorite color on the 997 Turbo.
Cool pics.

Talking

I'm starting to drift to black as well. After I saw the launch black/black, having NEVER wanting to own a Black car...well, I WANT it now.

Of course, the adrenaline of the new Turbo is enough to want it in any color!

OK, so that begs the question: I'm an **** retentive freak like most of you, cannot stand swirls in my Guards Red (I am the only one to clean it, ever), and always take delivery of the car covered in paper/dirty/no wash.

I also dislike films.

So...

Would you film the whole damn thing?

I mean, rhetorically, how insane is it to keep a Black one looking as perfect as delivery day (my '04 looks like it was painted yesterday, perfect)...but can you do that with a Black one and have a life too?

I would hate having film on it, and HATE having swirls, and I do not want silver (which as we all know is one of the more forgiving colors)....

What to do, what to do?

Oh ****, maybe I can get my pro detail guy (who never touches my cars....) to just move into the house! Yeah, that's the ticket!

This is very simple, detailing that is. I need to wear reading glasses to see things close up and in detail. I save many many min with this method. I simply do not wear my glasses when detailing my cars. I can't believe how much time this simple tequnique has saved me.

Eric, if that's the way you are - don't do it - you'll just regret it. Black is only ok if you can live with imperfections.

Relative to clearbring the entire thing, I have half my M5 done and i've noticed the clear bra gets scratched and swirled as badly as the black paint.

I takes most people at least 10 min to notice the film on the SL55. I hope the 997 flattens out a bit more, but it is still not that noticeable. When winter arrives the highway departnent covers our roads with coarse sand and the occaisonal small stone. Its not like they clean it up all that good in the spring. I have been stuck in traffic a few times on a sunny day and I start hearing what sounds like hail hitting my truck. I have also heard a small stone hit the film on the SL and it left a very tiny mark, but no paint chip.
