I just received the coolest 997 turbo gift in the mail from Porsche
So...... my mailman honks at me and I walk over and pick up a package from him. I look at it, and it is a box from Porsche. I open the box (wondering what I ordered that I had forgotten about... and inside...
Inside was the coolest bit of "you need one of these" advertising I'd ever seen from anyone.
It was a large black display case finished nicely with a Porsche logo on. Opening the black display case, and inside is a hard cover book fitted into a nice holder and on the right hand side of the display case is a paperweight/display with a turbine on it that spins and the base says 911 Turbo and underneath is the Porsche logo and at the bottom of the base is the text "Variable Turbine Geometry" (and of course, the working turbine at the top is a variable turbine.
I'll take some pictures of this and post them shortly... not sure how Porsche is determining who gets these in the mail, but I'm thinking perhaps I received one because I purchased a new 996 Turbo in 2003.
Anyway... this is by far the coolest bit of advertising I've ever seen... the little hardcover book is finished in silver and has lots of color pictures of the new 997.
If they want to get a 996 Turbo owner to move to a 997 Turbo... this is a good way to do it!

where's mine
want to see if I can be swayed... the 997S poster with my name on the license plate (remember those?) was framed, and then eventually in my driveway.
Porsche marketing is excellent. Even the high gloss booklets they hand out on each model are top notch...

Got mine yesterday. When I got home wifey says "Now what did you order?", quick mind flash....What did I order? This must be a sickness because I can't remember...Open it and say see I didn't order a thing. Anyway pretty cool advertising.
I am soooo jealous of how they treat you Turbo guys .
I spend a few grand less on my 997S , and what did I get ?
A metal model car and a lousy hat . Oh yes, and a laminated " Certificate of
Authenticity " ( heck, I already knew it was a real Porsche )
I bet they even sneak you real Espresso at the dealer, while we peons just get regular while we wait . Do they have a ( gulp) Turbo VIP lounge hidden away somewhere too ?
