What are some of your thought on this trade? I happened to stop by a MB dealership that happened to have a White on Black ML63 AMG. I took a test drive and..... WOW. I fell in love with the car. It is CRAZY fast.... I personally think it is faster than the Cayenne Turbo S I have driven-- which isnt that surprising according to a lot of the magazine reviews I have seen on this car. I love my S550, which currently has 4k miles on it, but I have always had a thing for big HP. Did I mention the sound of the exhaust? Intoxicating. I think the specs on the ML63 is something like 510hp and 490 lbs of torque.

What are your thoughts?

no way!! maybe for a G55 //AMG . The 63 AMG motor is a step back for MB ..IMOP if u check with the guys over at MBWorld.org they will tell u..

I have read some of the reviews over there.... i think people are upset that the 6.3 NA motor is not as quick as the 5.5 Kompressor i.e E55 vs E63, CLS55 vs CLS63, etc.... I dont think that would apply in the case of the ML's. The old ML55 was NA and the ML63 completely blows it away. Would I be totally off base if I stated that the ML63 may in fact be the fastest SUV on the market right now?

 

The real question is do you need an SUV? If not, you should have a S63 or even S65

 

Being in New England, one always needs an SUV....lol. But i figure, since I am already on the list for a CL63, if I DO decide on getting the ML63, I would just trade the ML in when the CL arrives. I figure that I would have about 4k miles on the ML by that time, which is the average mileage I put on my cars before I trade them in.

Looks like your in the notion of buy and trade.... if your going to trade it anyway for a cl63, why not. Its not like your going to keep the 550. Why would you anyways, its not like its rare! Been there and done that. If you even thought of trading your 550 in the first place, you were probably never completely satisfied with the car when the "newness" wore off. Besides, while the car is still an 07, you may get a better return value if you have a descent relationship with the manager. How about leasing one? Save some money, put it in the market and use up your disposable income and make a few bucks on the side. IMHO. Good luck!

 

I wouldnt do it, but i would not have bought the S550 in the first place. The E55 still holds a sweet spot in my heart

 

if u're getting the CL63 in the near future then go ahead do it. ML63 is probably feel the fastest in the new 63 line up because MB/AMG tuned it for more low-end torque then the other 63 models. i got a chance rode in my friend's ML63. overall i liked the car but it felt cheap. well, it's still a ML. the interior plastic panels are the worst. i wouldn't trade the S for it just for that reason. if u need a SUV, go for it.

 

I'd say hold onto your S550 until the CL63 comes in. I sell'em and right now S550's are still a very hot commodity. The ML63 will take a larger hit on trade in.


ps. I used to manage Flagship MB, in lynnfield............where in New England are you?

 

totally do it! ML63 is sick! It has way better gearing then any other 63 series and it makes it feel almost as fast! You can make it even faster with some Renntech mods, they unleashed 555 hp and 515 trq from the E63!

 

Two days ago I saw an ML 63 with german plates in my town...it was very immense and I really could feel the power of it...
I think the S-Class is a bit too big for my taste and I'd prefer a 63 for sure over the last one: better...I like the big/compact style of it over the big/long S-Class body.
But you have a problem now...you are in love with both!

I'd say go for the ML!

 

I havent driven either, so I can't give to much of an opinion.. but I think I would take an S550, especially if it had the AMG sport package. However, its nice to try out different things.
Definentaly get the Cl63 though, that car is HOT!
