CL 65 market

I think its time to retire my E55 this spring, getting close to 100K miles. I thought I would get an 05 or 06 E55 but my research on the 55 Kompressor motors over the years relative to consistency of HP and cooling issues has kept me from wanting one...and the new E63's just dont seem to be putting down decent trap speeds. I gotta have my torque!!

The CL65 is the chit, hands down IMO. The market is continuing to soften with the new CL body style out and some can be had for mid high eighties. Im hoping that it will take another hit once the new CL63 is released...my target is low eighties to mid high seventies, maybe Im dreaming. Any thoughts? Will spring time solidify price
s?

MGM is infamous around these parts
The looks combined with 600+ horse power, not to mention what a few mods will do. I'd do it, amazing car, go for it.

You won't see those numbers on a CL 65 anytime soon unless there are BIG stories &/or miles. You will see those on 3 ish year-old CL 55s but that might not be what you are after. There has been a brand-new 05 or 06 in the AutoWeek classifieds for a couple of weeks now but it's about 130ish. If this is the car you want then get that new one or find a slightly used one and be prepared to pay for it. Good luck!

Wow, these prices are dropping fast. That's around $100k depreciation. Once the new AMG CL hits the market, I'm sure people will be unloading this body style. I see this as a great buy, but get an extended warranty, as maintenance costs could be brutal.

colleague picked up one this past summer. i was a bit leary since it "seemed" so big and heavy but I had never driven one. after about a month, he was trying to get rid of it as he said it was just too heavy and didn't realize how "disconnected" he was from the road(compared to what he was looking for)

i dont think current 65 owners will be running to get the new CL63...its motor isnt so proven yet, we will see. My fingers are crossed tho to see if the market can soften some more. Maintainance costs on any AMG benz is brutal, I got an extended warranty when I purchased my current vehicle and it runs out at 100k..Im at 97.5K miles so its time to be pondering a new ride.

I have to agree Brit.

It is quite surprising, especially for current owners of 65's but hey....I went thru it once the E55 model came out in 03 with the Kompressor motor..chit my car cost me 72.5K and its worth less than 20K

Hey Eric...no I dont need 4 seats but most 2 available seaters are impractical for me...plus if me and the little lady go out with another couple or something its nice to have a rear seat.

how about a very heavy very expensive overrated underperforming sedan?

I dont doubt that in certain performace aspects of handling it might seem as such since it is indeed a very heavy car. I pondered a used 996tt but i just see it as impractical for me due to our local roads, my car is lowered now and its a pain in the *** in driveways etc. I like a big coupe thats can smash most cars out there from a roll on. On another note Frank...how are those earrings...I bet she got lots of compliments. Valentines day is coming...I will be emailing you soon
