In-car 32-108 MPH acceleration video: Protomotive 650TT

This evening I was able to make in-car video of the same acceleration pulls I had previously done in the ECU-only 997 (which dyno'd 471 AWHP on a Mustang dyno). The net net - the car is now 20% faster!

Video: http://www.treynor.com/Proto650Accel.wmv

[NB: the original video was done in 45F weather, the new video was in 61F weather. Actual results may be more impressive]

Protomotive 650TT:
(from speedo)
T0: 39 MPH, 18 PSI
T1: 57 MPH, 18 PSI
T2: 73 MPH, 4 PSI (shifting)
T3: 80 MPH, 18 PSI
T4: 93 MPH, 18 PSI
T5: 104 MPH, 17 PSI (lifting)

(from tach)
T0: 4000 RPM
T1: 5900 RPM
T2: 7000 RPM
Shift begins T+1.9 seconds
Shift ends T+2.3 seconds
T3: 5400 RPM
T4: 6200 RPM
T5: 6900 RPM (108 MPH actual, 104 MPH showing)

Compare this to the acceleration runs with the ECU (471 AWHP)

ECU-only:
T0: 40 MPH, 9 PSI
T1: 54 MPH, 18 PSI
T2: 71 MPH, 18 PSI
(shift to 3rd)
T3: 76 MPH, 18 PSI
T4: 87 MPH, 18 PSI
T5: 98 MPH, 18 PSI
T6: 105 MPH, 8 PSI (lifted)

Great video. As always, very impressed with protomotive.
Do you have any speculations on what it would trap in the 1/4?

Assuming the car with Ben in it weighs 3,700 lbs, it would hit around 130-131 with 550 awhp, and 132-133 with 575 awhp.

It's 3600 lbs roughly (PCCBs + HREs + exhaust knock off ~100 lbs combined) and my highly-calibrated butt-dyno says it's going to trap 130-132.

awesome Treynor!!!! Can't wait to see it in person!

Question though, I see the Red Indicator showing some fault going on. That wouldn't be the CEL since you are running no cats? ;-)

At this point it definitely feels stronger on the top end than the SL. The SL runs 11.1 @ 127

No no, Todd's programming made sure that we're CEL free. That warning is, irritatingly, the "your headlamp auto-level is faulty". I've got an appt with the dealer on Tuesday to have it fixed.

93oh is infamous around these parts
MPH didn't run up much faster until revs came way up. Didn't seem that much quicker?

Ben,

That is one hellova car you got there bro!!!

Now that you have time in the car with the turbos, do you feel as though traction in first gear is at all compromised

Did your car always peg and hold 18psi steady til redline with the protomotive flash?

Was a reflash necessary for the turbos?

Thanks! I was amazed at how easy it was to get the car to this level; just ECU reflash, a couple bolt-ons, and Todd's magic on the turbos. Oh, and it's going to need a clutch too - when cold, the stocker slips like mad with the power the car's putting out now. We're probably going to put in a Sachs, then get it on the dyno and see what she's making. My fearless prediction: 560 AWHP.

First gear traction?? Surely you jest. I put three people in the car and in sport mode it still lights up all 4 tires in 1st. In non-sport (15 PSI) it hooks up in 1st as long as the pavement is clean and dry and the tires are warmed up.

With just the ECU reflash the car showed 18 PSI on the boost-o-meter, but that might have meant it was making 17 PSI. Regardless, if you look at the second video in the original post, you can see it holding full boost all the way to 7000 RPM.

We didn't need an ECU reflash to accommodate the upgraded turbos, but Todd added some program updates (I was one of his earliest customers) while the car was being worked on.

I'm looking forward to getting to the dragstrip once we have a few weeks of dry weather. My car has PCCBs and so I'll be running street tires, but I still expect to get some representative MPH runs.
