sportec vs. sport technic: what's the story???

Now that it looks like the Champion RS-67 will not happen in 19" i'm back to the drawing board.

I did a search here on sport technic/sportec and there seems to be some confusion (at least i'm confused LOL). One thread says the sportec's are lighter, another says they're boat anchors. One says sport technic are lighter - what gives?

From a purely cosmetic perspective I prefer the sportec - I prefer little to no lip. Are these available, who sells them, do they require spacers, and how much do they weigh?

One is a Japanese brand made by Ray Wheels. I think its the Sport Technic. ST also weighs less I believe because they are spun forged.

Sport Technic's are Japanese replicas. Sportec's are authentic from Switzerland. Both versions are forged and probably weigh about the same

Try the Sportec website - they have more info, weights, offsets, etc.

The Sport Technics would definitely be a lot easier to get. I prefer the Sportecs because it doesn't have the deep lip look.

This is nuts. Just got two very different pieces of info. regarding these wheels from two very knowledgeable people. Shouldn't be this complicated - I'll either stay stock or look again at kinesis/champion/PES et al. The RS wheels are backordered with no ETA.

Did you check with carnewal? Gert should be able to get you those RS wheels easily.

atomic80 is right, however I am pretty sure that it was previously confirmed that the sportecs are much heavier. the sport technics on the other hand are cheaper weigh around 19-21 1bs, and dont require spacers. All the sportec wheels I have seen so far require spacers.
If I were to choose between these 2 and you can live with a lip I would go with the sport technics, very easy to get from wheelenhancement or wheelexperts.
I would rather go with champion wheels or the RS though.

According to Wheel Enhancement the sport technic's require spacers.

sorry, I guess I was confused, cause I thought they made wheels specifically for wide and narrowbody.
I am pretty sure the sportecs require spacers for both narrow and wide, or at least the offset is very non aggressive- something like 60 in the rear.
have you considered the pes-tuning champion wheels?
