Which exhaust with GIAC tune?
Which exhaust with GIAC tune?
Don't beat up on me for another exhaust question. The exhaust posts are mosty with a stock tune.
What's the story with different exhausts with the GIAC 93 octane tune? I want the power of course, but its a daily drive for me so I don't want it too loud. Thanks to all. Vincy

Joe-
Actually, when GIAC needed a muffler system for 997TT testing, they used ours.
Have a look at this page for further details.

Quote from the GIAC website:
"The latter phase of software development incorporated the testing of an aftermarket performance exhaust provided by AWE ( www.AWE-Tuning.com ). Fine tuning with this product produced significant improvements in EGTs. The lower EGTs are important in maximizing the serviceable life of the turbos. Backpressure also dropped from approximately 8 psi down to a low 3.5 psi."

Like I said, there were three main key players in the development. We all used and tuned on various equipment and complied the results to what we have today. As Todd posted from the site here is the cert from GIAC sites.
We found when working with FS that the EGTs the system tested dropped 110C. I will look, I still have the data logs from that testing. We also saw abotu 1.25-1.5 BP at WOT-Redline.

<TABLE cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=3 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>AWE-Tuning, Evolution Motorsports and Imagine Auto all played critical roles in developing the 91 and 93 octane programs.
</TD></TR><TR><TD>AWE-tuning (www.AWE-Tuning.com) worked with GIAC extensively on testing GIAC 93-octane software with the AWE high-flow exhaust on their in-house 997TT. This testing was performed on AWE's in-house 4WD Mustang dyno. . Gains on 93 octane (93 octane is the recommended minimum by the factory) had proven much higher than 91 octane especially with the AWE exhaust system. Extensive EGT and knock data were monitored to develop the mappings appropriate for 93 octane.
Evolution Motorsports (www.EVOMS.com) played a crucial role in testing GIAC software in their in-house 997TT under extreme conditions for both 91 and 93 octane programs. The new technology of the new 997TT with its variable vein turbos warranted extensive testing of the new GIAC software. As always, it is important to us to release a product that would prove both reliable and powerful and measure up to our long history of reliable winning programs. Todd Zuccone of Evolution Motorsports tracked their 997TT at times as fast as 11.3 sec @125 MPH in the ¼ mile during development. Evolution Motorsports has tested numerous parts with various GIAC programs to provide combinations that will thrill and provide the power that the community expects from GIAC and Evolution Motorsports.
Imagine Auto (www.ImagineAuto.com ) was also a major contributor to testing the 91-octane GIAC program on their 997TT via road as well as their in-house Mustang 4WD dyno. Hours of testing were performed with turbo-back exhausts and headers. EGT data and other performance parameters were monitored and evaluated to develop the most powerful combination of hardware possible.
