Saw a white 997TT pulled over on highway 280, right after the 92 exit around 3pm I think.

Hope you got away with a warning

Was it a CHP or a Sheriff's car? I got nailed 2 months ago by the SM Sheriff. They hang out right above 92 overlooking the freeway and right before 280. When they see a speeder going from 92 to 280, that's an easy citation.

 

993fan... watch out. As of late they have been SERIOUSLY cracking down on the 92-280 and 680. They have stepped up their presence BIG-TIME.

That area is brutal for getting popped. Every now and then the CHP "steps up" their presence in different parts of the Bay Area. Sharkster, there are some nice spots in Fremont to let loose. I don't get there often but the last get together presented some opportunities with absolutly no traffic at all for long stretches. You notice things like that coming from a crowded city.

 

Wonder if this driver is one that refuses to admit to the value of V1 or just was not alert that day. Even if the copper is behind and beeps ya, if one is to speed especially in a non-stealth Porsche, best to do the speeding when others are around to catch some radar scatter at least. Without others about, one has small, if any warning=no chance.

i drive 280 (north & south) at least 2x/ week and i've only seen cops on 280/92 twice (over an 8 year period), yet i always hear people talk about that's where they hang out.

can we get more specific? here's where i've seen cops over the last month's crackdown:

Southbound
1 - 92 on-ramp to 280 South - there's a small triangle of land that's invisible as you're driving south that i've seen cop cars on twice.

2 - 280 South just past Edgewood - i've seen motorcycle cops w/ radar on the long stretch road just past the Edgewood onramp. this seems to be the favorite area of the motorcycle cops as i've seen them both north- & southbound.

3 - 280 South / Sandhill onramp - i like to treat this as my personal race-track but one day i noticed a motorcycle cop watching me i've also seen a cop car targeting 280 northbound from the longish road/on-ramp leading to the highway.

Northbound
4 - 280 North / Magdalena - cop cars will hang out on the on-ramp, usually w/o radar ?

5 - 280 North / just past Edgewood on the Scenic Look-out - i've seen some motorcycle cops hang out on the on-ramp that comes down, pointing radar guns.

6 - 280 North / between Edgewood & 92 - i've seen cop cars hang out on the empty roads that lead up 1/8 mile into the hill. no radar.

7 - 280 North / past 92, at resevior exit - i've seen cop cars hang out on the top w/ and w/o radar.


that's where i see all of the cops. i fear this summer if they get the plane out.

i drive 280N daily (from san mateo to san bruno) and i see cops pulling over cars atleast once a day.........sucks

 

I'm in that area only about once a month but everytime I take a weekend drive toward that area (sorry I can't get more specific) I see CHP pulling guys over. I went to school with 2 Bay Area CHP (both are friends of mine) but one patrols the GG Bridge-Marin area on a motorcycle and the other Patrols 101 from San Francisco south to the airport in a black and white. Last month the one patrolling 101 put the lights on me (and I wasn't going over the limit) just to scare the **** out of me and it worked! It was a brief encounter and he passed me up with a big grin on his face. Their are hundreds of CHP patrolling the Bay Area and yes we drive cars that catch their attention. So far I have been lucky and I attribute that to safe driving and my passport 8500. I can't count the times this thing saved my ***.
