I picked up my new 997 TT on Friday and have been grinning ear-to-ear since. My wife is concerned paralysis has set in. I originally planned to buy a C4S but last one in my dealer's inventory was sold shortly before I walked into the showroom. The dealer immediately engaged in a good hearted effort to obtain a C4S with specs I wanted from another dealer when a new TT became unexpectedly available. Person who ordered it backed out at the last minute. GT silver metallic, 6 spd, sport chron. I initially resisted, claiming the TT was "over the top" and more performance than I needed, but eventually gave in to the temptation.
"No regrets" is a dramatic understatement. The TT is a blast, even during the break-in period (oops, I know I shouldn't even touch that topic); prodigious power, surgical steering, and solid as a rock at speed. Quite a change from my last daily driver. It was a V10 monster. Unfortunately, it was an Excursion, not a Gallardo. Actually, I've enjoyed some fine dd's in the past, including an S600, but nothing surpasses the TT for pure fun.
For the past several weeks, I've been reading every forum, post, thread, I could find related to the TT and have been impressed by the attitude of members of this forum. The passion about the machine, the intensity of opinions, and sense of camaraderie.
I'll eventually post some pics and create an avatar, but for the next 2,100 miles I'm going to be too busy. Still grinning.

man. Let me echo and say welcome and congrats on the car.
Camaraderie
I think that word conveys what I've been pleased to find here on this board. It reminds of the times when I owned MY 911's in 1983, 1986 and 1996. Back then, Porsche owners would always toot their horn, flash their headlights or give a wave when passing. I haven't experienced that with any other car, and I'm looking forward to re-joining the club very soon.
Congrats on your new car and welcome to the club!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Even those of you who threatened banning and other forms of public censure for the lack of pix. Note taken. Driving from Syracuse, NY, to Washington DC, tomorrow and will return on Thursday. Another 800 miles on the odometer. Will post some pics after I return. Thanks again.
