Drove my first E55 today
Have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The car is quick, and handled better than I expected.
Is the CLS55 as quick as the E55? I think I've read somewhere that for whatever reason, the E55 is quicker. How about the CL600 vs. E55?
Thanks. Still learning about the Mercs.

i drove a E63 AMG today for a few hours.
i was pretty underwhelmed. what a boaring, detachted car to drive. doesnt help that you cant turn traction control off and light up the rears.
but it felt very boaring to drive, the gearbox in manual mode is pretty average, and the steering is rediculously light and vague.
although this was after turning up in an RS4 and having been driving an M5 for the past coouple of days.
it doesnt hold a candle to the M5>E63

If you had look at the dash there is a button called ESP. Thats the traction control. The E63 will hand an m5 or m6 it's a$$ any day. Look at the torque numbers alone.
thanks sherlock.
yes we turned ESP off. it doesnt turn it off fully, once it feels the rear tires slipping, it will re-engage the ESP. you need to disconect the switch to fully disable the system.
i didnt say that the E63 wouldnt. its just such a boaring drive that i would rather be driving the M cars. and it feels like a different sort of power. the M5's and to a lesser extent the RS4 power is a kick in your ****. whereas the E63 feels more like a surge that will never end.

from the seat experience yesterday. in a straight line the E63 would be faster. but the M5 will dominate it when the road becomes twisty. the E63 was actually scary to throw around, didnt feel like i was in control at all. the M5 may feel faster because you can be in the right gear instantly, whereas the e63 takes some time to downshift in manual mode
again this was after hoping out of an RS4 avant which has heavy steering and awesome road feedback, which the e63 lacked.
