Drag racing a 993

Am I out of my mind if I want to Hit the 1/4 mile? I have a 993C4S with a couple of modifications and would like to know if I can make a few passes without total destruction (Half shafts, ring gears etc...). I realise soft launches are in order but any information you have from personal experiance would be appreciated.

I ran a 13.1 in my 95 993 a couple of years back. It is fun to try at least once.

If you launch above 4K RPM a few times, I'd give you a 50% chance of buying a new clutch, especially w/ your setup.

Have you made many passes on the 2 wheel drive without drivetrain issues?

Usually they check your car and make sure everything is tight. Bring a helmet.

12.57?!?!?!?! That is fast. Do you have the time slip? What track was it? What is the altitude?

The track is at sea level (Florida), Bradenton Dragstrip, And I have the time slips. I made 4 runs that were, 12.97@109mph, 12.68@109mph, 13.13@107 and 12.57@110mph.

That is the track I ran a 13.1 in my 993. Post up the 12.5. That is the fastest 1/4 mile time I have ever seen in a 993 and any non Turbo 911 (besides the GT3)

No problem. I used to live just north of there in the Tampa/St.Pete area.
It actually was a very long (and unconfortable drive) from FL here.
