Pickup Truck

If you were buying a Pickup what manufacturer would you go with?
Engine size?
Transmission?

I was thinking whether a new RAM 5.7L cummans diesel depreciate much more than an automatic if it were purchased in Manual

You mean 5.9 or 6.7L cummins? there is no 5.7. And it depends on what truck you get. crew cab dually and the manual is not a bad option. It won't be a favorite for the daily driver crowd but guys who want a hard core tow vehicle won't go anywhere else.

If you tow a lot get the ram, doesn't matter which motor, all the cummins are great. If you want a comfortable truck that tows well look at the 06' body style silverado HD. The LBZ d-max is a decent motor, great transmission, and the best interior by far.

I would take a serious look at the new Toyota Tundra.

Depending on what you are using it for I would get a new 08 Ford with the new 6.4L Powerstroke. You can get a 6-speed manual but the Torqshift transmission I feel there is no need for a manual. They are much stronger than the others have equally or better rides than the rest and overall have the best build quality. Ford generally hold thier value better than the others as well.
I personally would steer away from the dodge as the cummins motor is fine, the truck its self is very poorly/cheaply made.
Thats my opinion, I'm a little biased as a Ford dealership is my family business. Let me know if you have any questions!

I dont mind Ford at all. 6 speed was more to conserve gas milage... I never liked automatic
As far as a Dodge goes a friend of mine owns a Dodge dealership, pretty much the only reason I would consider it.

5.9 sorry crew cab. No dually though.. I wouldn't need it for heavy towing.

It all depends what you plan on doing with it ie, half ton or do you need something larger? I was very impressed with the new Sierra though.

Dan, what the hell do you need a truck for? Don't go dodge, my dads company has a fleet of rams and they are CRAPOLA, we have had problems with every one of them!

See ya in Sept, gimme a call if ya want to come to the lake house bud.

Here are some pics of mine. A close family friend owns a dodge dealer so I considered the Ram, but I still liked the Ford more. Interior is really nice on the '08, especially in FX4 trim.

Diesel? If so give it at least 7k to get mildly broken in, power and mileage should go up about then. And will continue to do so for the first 60k miles or so.

Nice rig.
