Falken RT-615 experiences?
Falken RT-615 experiences?
Anyone care to weigh in on these shoes? I have a 996tt. Want them for the street but also the occasional track day if the weather keeps me from using my Sport Cups. Met a guy at a recent track event that was really happy with them.
That guy at the track may have been me. I have been driving to and from track events (Pocono, Summit, LRP, WGI) and have done 15 days on my first set and they are still as sticky as ever. Certainly a lot less tread than new for that downpour that awaits me on the way home from the Glen but still safe. I am changing them after LRP next week. The other option, as mentioned, which I may try are the Nitto NT-01s.
The only drawback is they tend to overheat after about 20-30 minutes depending on how hard you push them.
Other than that they are great and relatively inexpensive given the options available in these sizes.

The only problem that I have had with the Falkens are they like to overheat. But they are hard to beat for the price. If you can afford a little more, I would suggest the Bridgestone RE-01R. They are a very sticky tire, that hold up very well on the track. I have known quite a few people that love them on the track, as well as myself.
the azenis rt-615 is one of the best street/track tires for the price IMO, you might also want to check out the hankook ventus R-s2, they are suppose to be comparable to the RT-615. I never had personal experience with the R-s2 but with the RT-615 i liked it for my street/track tire.

RT-615 is great until you get them hot/sticky, and then they just slide around, much like the older RT-215 compound. Rain driving is mediocre at best.
I've had the Hankook RS-2's for a short time, no track time, and they've had some pretty good grip. I'd say that one is more of a street tire than track tire.

But i do agree. RT-615's were great for everyday driving and occasional track.
if you have an extra set of wheels. maybe a better track only tire would be good
