Awesome. You are posting every lens that I have been looking into! How much did you buy this lens for new? It seems like some sort of mythical creature or something but I can't find much info on this particular lens. The only relevent lens that comes up is the 17-40mm f/4 lens.
Haha. It is fairly rare I guess. I paid around $1500 for it and it was well worth it. It is an awesome piece of glass and did extremely well in tests. Canon did come out with a newer model. They tried to improve on it and were only able to make a 16-35 version. Both are exceptionally sharp. You can decide if you need that extra 1mm on the wide side.

Great lens...it would have rounded out my collection perfectly. As much as I love digital format and what it does for focal length of telephotos, I hate the way it loses the wideangle perspective. Most of my favorite shots were made with wideangles.
