SLK55 AMG - Widest rear tire possible on stock 18 inch rim

I'm about to replace the rear tires on my 2005 SLK55 and would like to go with a wider tire on the stock rim. What is the widest tire I can put on the stock rims without screwing up the odometer/traction control/active handling? Thanks.

The stock tires are: Front - 225/40 - 18; Rears - 245/35 - 18
The wheels are 18 inch in diameter, but I don't know their width.

I would personally go with a set of 285/30s. That will keep the speedometer really close to factory. The other things wont be affected by wider tires.

Those 255's will change the speedo reading though. I would think the 285's would fit just fine because its only an inch and a half wider than stock. If Paris says they dont fit, they might not. You could always go with a spacer to prevent rubbing.

the best setup is 265s for the rear as it will accomidate it without rubbing and other issues.

You can fit 265's for sure. Someone w/ slk55 had some 265's yokohama track tires on it with no rubbing. - I drove it, hooked nicely the tires looked like they were off a sportback awesome tread. Im a MB tech fyi
