Top Gear - Aston Martin DBS

Based on style alone, it beats everything out there. To hear it was that fast around a track and weighs over 3700lbs! I seriously do not know were all this weight comes from. Car manufactures in general need to quit adding all the extra crap (gps, 20inch wheels, subwoofers) and start making cars under 3000lbs. I was somewhat disheartened to hear that the v12 is a ford duratec concept adaptation. It will be a glorious day when all the ford/Volvo crap is fully out of sight. Still a stunning car. Has everyone seen the red one from moter trend?

I do think the DBS is the cat's pajamas, but, like Clarkson, I wonder about where it "fits" in the line-up of options we have. I suppose I'm not surprised that manufacturers are producing cars like the DBS, Scuderia, GT3RS and CLK63 Black. That's them and their marketing departments trying to respond to us and our "feedback" about what we want. However, I'm beginning to really wonder what place these cars have in the world.
First, we can't even get close to their potential on the road. Second, they're not "pure" as Clarkson points out. So, basically, they're just less comfortable with modest performance improvements. They're not true track cars, either. Just hopped up street cars. Thus, they make too many compromises to be truly useful in either application. Third, their price premiums are outrageous in most instances. I understand that they're the hot thing to have right now, and I do really love the looks and sounds, but where I live, they're just too impractical and uncomfortable.
Anyway, I certainly love the looks of the AMs, but I'm still waiting to find a good Vanquish S at the right price!

As for the porky weight, you don't have a choice, nowadays. There are so many safety regulations you just can't make a really light car anymore.
I love the styling of the DBS ... but I'd rather get a DB9, put s body kit on, exhaust and NEEZ rims, call it day and save a lot of dough ...

Looks great. Definitely a car that deserves some credit. 3700 lbs is alot of wieght. They should have jacked the HP up to 550 or so just so the "Versus" opinions towards the Vantage & DB9 would be non-existant.
Great car though.
