I am getting a 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. My question is whether people pay for MSRP on a car like Aston Martin which is "exotic". Or is it the case where a car is a car and nobody is foolish enough to pay MSRP.

Any comments, suggestions are appreciated!!

Thanks

I am paying msrp for 09 amv8, august delivery. I have a clause in my contract, however, that lets me bail if there is an increase of greater than $5000 for 09 models. I didn't try to bargain much with the dealer in regards to the price though: they are throwing in "at no charge" floor mats, membership to amoc, and exchanging new 20 spoke wheels (standard on 09 models) for 08 seven spoke wheels (which have been discontinued, but are great looking in my opinion)

the 3 dealers around me each has at least 15 vantages, I am sure they rather sell them than have it all sit there. The question is how much below MSRP, or from invoice.

No, today you get a significant discount on a vantage or DB9, sticker is for the new DBS (yes I know they are all 'pre-sold', but many of those 'pre-sold' are dealer placeholders or spec. guys who will bail unless the market is strong for a flip). Look at the resales on ebay for very low miles 07s and 08s, gives you an idea of first yr cost. If you are in a small market, contact a large market dealer who may have more to move, also try dealers with winter weather who are still slow (lakeforest Ill. was negociable a few months ago, may still be) Good luck.

i had a dealer offer me a Silver/Blue or Silver/Red DB9 for about $30k off. Bauer AM in OC.... but frankly i hated the car. it's a beautiful car, sounds amazing, looks amazing also... but i thought it drove like TOTAL **** and was entirely unimpressed with the build quality. gaps everywhere... rough edges. definitely felt "fordish"

You should get at least 10K off and 15K if you call around.

I got 10k off w/o trying as well about a year and half ago on a DB9 w/o trying. I too got the impression that they would do more but I drove the car and decided against it. Phillip Jones did seem like a good guy though....

Chris
