Hi all,
I am new to the board and am currently in the market for a Vantage (06-07). The threads in this section have convinced me that the Vantage is the way to go (also considering a 997 P-car). Does anyone happen to have the wholesale prices on 2006-2007 models? Also, what have people found in terms of dealership wiggle room the current economic environment? If the car is listed in the mid-70's, is it unreasonable to offer around high 60's?

depending on mileage, condition, etc, i think the dealer cost is going to be high 60's. an example would be the one i tested out recently, listed for $73xxx, offered it to me (didn't have to negotiate) for $69,9xx and told me that was 2k more than what they got it for. that's just one car, but the list price was pretty comparable to other cars on the market so i'd imagine the discounts and costs would be similar as well.
I am very happy w/ my '07 - only dislike is the current market value - but I guess not that big a deal as I am not selling ! Good luck ... at these prices you are doing quite well ...
I think you are better off with the Vantage. I have the 997 too but Vantage is more classy, comfortable and exclusive. Both take corners and turns just as well but smoother ride in Vantage although throttle response is a bit better in 997. High $60s for a 06/07 is certainly possible. Keep us posted.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. The Vantage is definitely much higher on my list than the 997. While not a primary concern, how big is the trunk? I know the hatchback gives it a little more room, but will it fit a set of golf clubs, for instance? Any problems with ride height and bumper scraping?

Which 997 are you comparing to?
For the current owners, what made you decide the V8 vantage?
What other choices did you have in mind?
What cars was before the V8 vantage?
lucky
My answers to your questions respectively
1) exclusivity/individuality
2) P car TT, DB9 (didn't go for DB9 because I don't need the rear seats and I thought the body is too long)
3) (If you mean what kindda cars I had before AM Vantage) 3 Porsches, a number of BMW's and Mercedes and the rest are either off road or off this list
What I'm missing now? A reliable supercharger under 15K for at least 100 more bhp)
While at it, here's a pic of mine

Kamran, Nice car. Thanks for the reply.
It looks like most of the V8 vantage owners have had Porsches in the past. It's amazing that you guys will give up the power for the refinement and style for the Aston Martin. This is just give me one more reason skip the 911 and get a V8 Vantage.
