How's your car running, any problems? Have you had a chance to test your 0-60 or 1/4 mile times? The video of you smoking the M3 tells me that your car is a real beast. Do you think that you could run with a 997TT? I love to hear some updates.

Tahoe,

Have you had any contact with Paramount concerning their SC? Last we spoke you thought it would be available in May. I succesfully had my car's ECU and sportshift tuned by them. Unfortunately, my garage is under construction and my car is in storage for a couple of weeks. I am planning a 200 mile road trip in July and I will post after.

Jay

It's still not done yet from what I've heard. Hopefully it will be ready by sometime this summer. I have seen a prelim pic and it looks very good so far.

So far so good, car is running flawlessly. I'm putting new bigger rubber on the back this week. I'll try another GPS run and let you know. There are no 997tt's around here that I know but I'd bet my car would be as strong or slightly stronger but not as strong as a Z06 or Ford GT. Don't forget that it is a centrifugal supercharger so below 3500 rpm it feels pretty stock. When you rev it between 5K and 7K it transforms into 'Mr Hyde'.

what's the difference between that kit (ESX) and Paramount's? iirc, Paramount's is going to cost about $15k, while the ESX kit is listed for $25k.

I agree, against your supercharged E90 it would be fun. If you're making more that 6psi boost, it would not be pretty for me!

Paramount's kit uses a roots-type positive displacement supercharger. This provides instant torque at lower rpm and will change the character of the car dramatically. It will probably drive more like the DB9. Typically these blowers are less efficient than the centrifugal-type supercharger on the ESX kit. The centrifugal supercharger produces all its power up top so the car's character is relatively unchanged, ie you need to rev it to get big power. It looks like the Paramount kit does not have an intercooler and if true, that and its efficiency will limit power gains. The ESX setup should produce more power on the stock motor at the same boost pressure. In terms of cost, the ESX has more parts including the intercooler, heat exchanger, electric water pump and associated custom ducting. They also reposition the front water jacket plumbing with custom pieces to allow the supercharger to fit properly so their fixed cost in components is probably higher, thus the higher cost.

Never the less, given these economic times, I bet you could get a better deal on either system with a group buy.

What you choose depends on how you want the car to "feel" as the 2 kits will drive very differently.

The advantage of the ESX is that it is done and they have over 10 cars on the road with the kit. I have beat on my car for the last 6 months and have 3-4K miles on the kit and have roasted one set of rear tires without any problems. I admit to being horribly biased!
