Ready to get in the water ?
Ready to get in the water ?
I have been hanging out here for a while and given the current market on used V8V, I have one hand on the trigger and the other holding the keys to my NSX very tight. I will have to sell the NSX to pull off the Vantage and to be honest it may just be time. My current NSX is a track rat, with a large number of track specific mods. I feel like the track bug may have left me for now and I do not get the urges and withdraw symptoms like I used to if I did not hit the track at least once a month. So it would seem that the time may be right. I have been through this once before when I sold my first NSX only to find myself in a different one within 6 months.
So not that I am looking for a settle nudge towards owning a V8V, but I have enjoyed the NSX so much that I feel the V8V has a lot to live up to.
One of my big issues with the Aston mark is I enjoy working on my own vehicles, I have the skills and the tools to do just about any repair or mod on my NSX. I can find OEM service parts at discounted prices, and performance parts from more than a few vendors for the NSX. Besides the NSX just does not break. I fear the Vantage will not only cost me a lot more to own but will limit my options should I decide to modify the car. I have never left any car I have owned unmodified so I see no reason why the Vantage would change that.
I just can not get the V8V out of my head. I am looking for more of a date night car than a full on track car. I want the performance to be close to what I have with my Comptech SC NSX, but I understand the differences in the two cars and there designers intent for the cars.
So, is there anyone here that made the move from a NSX to the Vantage and if so how do you feel about the change?
Is there any way to obtain OEM parts other than the local retail dealers, is St. Louis we have one dealer and there is no reason for them to compete on price?
Are parts readily available or are you guys waiting for service parts to arrive from overseas?
Thank you for any insight you can offer.
Dave

i'm also interested in this. i've always had Japanese sports cars ('02 WRX, '93 RX7, and now '05 STi), and i've always done all my own work and plenty of mods. i want to be able to work on the V8V, but all your points are things i've thought about as well.
thanks to whoever pitches in on this thread.
