Unknown Cable to Somewhere?

Alright. I bought a used DB9 and it has protruding from the dash vent area, adjacent to the windshield, what appears to be a typical phone connector wire/plug (about 6-8 inches or so).

Does anybody have any idea what this might be? I'm thinking it was some kind of add on by the previous owner. Its location makes me think it was for some kind of radar detector or similar.

Any way, it is quite the mystery and the selling dealer is of no particular help.

It's probably for a Valentine One radar detector. Their power plug looks like a phone cord.

If you buy a Valentine, you will not be disappointed. They are the best, hands down.

Are you sure it isn't for an ejector seat, or machine guns?

Doubtful, since the factory build sheet does not list these options and I would think they would be prohibitively expensive as a dealer or owner installed add on....

Duh, it's an English car and everyone knows they always have "extra" parts that really aren't necessary. This is most commonly discovered when taking something apart and then putting it back together ...

Those annoying arrows let you know what is going on Michael. I have 3 Valentines and an Escort. The Valentines are much better imho.

I once got stopped with my Escort car because I passed a cop using radar and ignored the beeping thinking it was coming from behind me and instead it was from ahead... I was driving with a friend who had a Valentine and he was wondering why I was speeding up when he knew there was radar ahead...

The Escort does have that cool Laser jammer and they use a lot of laser around here.

Gonna' have to buy a V1 and give it a try. Hopefully it'll work. If not, then back she goes and will have to try something else.

Thanks for the help!

I am alive. I was held to ransom but that's another story...

I'm jealous that you can plug your Escort into your Vantage, I have to use batteries for mine
